While I wait for queu why not help some of you out?

NOTE: TM/Salvage is one of the most unfinished parts of the game which means there are still many bugs(i.e. items not salvaging when they should) and things not implemented yet. It is possible to level it just takes alot more time than it should and can be frustrating, at the time of my post my TM is 70 and salvage is a bit higher.

What can I salvage?

Anything with a magic stat that is equipable, yes I have found salvageable belts, AND accessories that de (however many are bugged and do not)

What is the easiest way to get fragments?

If you don't have 2 friends sending you their unneeded magic items (and you aren't being a jerk and needing anything like the goon tard "Notarg" does). You WILL have to buy magic items to salvage, especially for tier one. I found a 3s boot that was de'able, from the T1 chaos warcamp renown vendor. Remember when buying items to uncheck the "view usable only" box at the top of the merchant window. Often there are cheaper choices then what your class is able to use.

Where do other TM components come from?

Containers:Not sure if they are craftable, you can buy level 25 ones from the guild merchant.
Essences:Obtained by salvaging
Curios:Obtained by scavenging
Gold cores:Gold plant must be grown by cultivator then made into core my alchemy

WTF +2 to stat and 8 hours USELESSS???

Yes they are useless when you first start, they really come into their own once you get to tier 2 and find blues that have good stats AND talisman slots. At that point your average will be +5-7 to a stat for 4-7 days. The time limit is meaningless for you anyways because you are leveling and will replace the gear long before it expires.

Are there permanent talismans?

Yes, purple fragments make permanent talismans. I made a +13 wounds perm one.

I'm having trouble skilling up what do i do?

I have used level 1 containers/gold all the way up so far, in the 60's it starts to slow. I'm pretty sure the materials you use increase the chance of a skill up. If you are just starting level 1 gold/essence/container/curio is fine at least up until 50. Definatly make use of the highest materials you can get though.

Your telling me that talismans have a duration and afterwards are useless? Wow, that is a bad idea. Makes all the talismans below purple (permanent) stupid other than leveling (I'm guessing leveling makes it not fail as much).

The shortest duration is 8 hours, and I have yet to have one wear off before I was done using the gear ;p

Do you keep gear for more than 8 hours when you're leveling?

At high levels, using a blue talisman that lasts 5 days is a LOOONG time(~2 weeks if you're playing 8 hours a day). Keep in mind this is game-time.. not 5 days of real world time. They will be effectively permanant... and much cheaper than repair bills or some other gold sink at max level.

Of course once you get your RR100 gear you should be able to afford to pimp them out with perma talismans anyway...

So what was the problem again?

fixt is in bold (you can only post a message with 10 char min, lawl.)

btw thanks for that verification. I've been running all over Altdorf looking for a vender to sell 25 skill level containers. I heard a rumor that the guild vender sells them, but I couldn't find one of those either. Have you any confirmation on higher level containers and where to find them?

So i should have went TM/Salvaging and not TM/Scavenging?

I find 3/4 of the ingredients to make a talisman from scavenging.
The only one i am ever missing is the fragment part.

So did i make a mistake by choosing scavenging over salvaging?

And if i did screw up will i be able to buy fragments from the AH

Fragments only come from Salvaging. If people sold them on the AH for reasonable prices, you could buy them from there.

Guild Vendor will be in the Guild Tavern, "Sigmar's Hammer", as long as your guild is Rank 7 at least. BUT Altdorf has to be Rank 2 for Sigmar's Hammer to open

So, this is really a question about Talismans, but it IS salvaging related.

so I salvage my green items (including a belt today.. first time for everything!), and I get "dormant echo" for example. The description says I can salvage 10 of them to refine a single "whisper essence", but I can't seem to salvage them. I use the green "magical salvaging - gathering" icon, and click on a stack of 10 (separated from my stack of 38), but nothing happens; no progress bar, no failed message, nothing.

Is this side of the profession bugged?

Just right click it, no need to salvage it.

Correct the way it's worded is misleading but as long as you have enough all you have to do is right click it will automatically make the new object.

What a complete waste of time. And money. (EDIT: In game money, that is)

You can only take one gathering skill, but you need two in order to craft these items.

What you craft only lasts a relatively short time.

You don't always get fragments when DE'ing items.

While these are interesting professions, so far not a single one has been worth the time or effort needed in order to actually produce anything. I love the game, don't get me wrong. But the professions completely stink.

Try working out trade deals with friends. This is a very team effort kind of game. Get used to it.

Of course it's not worth the time when you are level 10 ;p. I would imagine end game people who stuck with it will get rewarded especially tm'ers do to how many are giving it up.

Okay guys, items that only last a week mean people will need to buy new items every week.

I would imagine people wouldn't even want perm talismans until they get their final equipment which will take a while.

I agree with that comment. Look at how annoyed you get after spending heaps of gold in WoW to get gems for your gear... only to later dump it for new gear. Temp talismans sound ok to me with the option to make perm later. And heck if you are a TM'er then you get the benefit of making a new one (heck that my just lvl you up again in your skill :) )
Only one problem... being Chaos means you just can't find the trainer, yes I know he's a hedge wizard... So far I only salvage... still got to get my game on to using the stuff I salvage :)

To clear things up, and this might be a misunderstanding for a lot of people.

The duration is in GAME TIME, not real life time, it won't disappear while you're logged out and sleeping.

On top of that, it only starts counting down when you've actually put it in a piece of gear. So a 8h talisman could sit in your bank for months before you put it in a piece of gear. That's a long time when you think about it.
