Hello fellow WAR players,

Im Fluxx / Kevin and i play the game just as all of you do. But are you also having trouble of Crashes to Desktop ( Or how i call them: CTD )

I have found a way that helps for not getting them anymore, and as soon as did find it i made this post. Also i did have these crashes on alot of EA made games ( Such as Battlefield 2 )

Here is the anwser for you suffering !

Step one (1):

Go to your computer ( Hover above it with your mouse ! verry importent ! )
http://i35.tinypic.com/autv13.png

*note: Im Dutch and using Dutch XP/Vista so thats why you could find the langues strange*

Step two (2):

Right click on it. Then go to Properties ( I think its called that way in english )

Step Tree (3)

You see a new screen pop up! Now go to the tab: Advanced

Step Four (4)

You will see tree (3) buttons that are clickable on the tab, The buttons have a kind of table/outline area each. What i want you to do is click on the first one.

Step five (5)

After you have done this you see an other window pop-up.
You see it has 3 tabs. 2 small ones and 1 big one. I want you to open the biggest one
It has a name and behind it says (DEP).

Step six (6)

After you are on that tab you see 2 option bubbles. I WOULD STRONGLY SUGGEST you take the second one, As viruses can enter more easily if you use nr.1

After you click on the second bubble. you see a white area apear beneath it.

Step seven (7)

You also see a new button beneath that white area, its is called "add" if im right. I want you to click on that.

Now you see a new window pop-up, and you need to go to the place were you installed Warhammer. If you are in the folder of warhammer you need to select the .exe of warhammer and then click on "open" after you have done that you will see that there is a new little line of tekst in the white area that is probbely called "warhammer" or something in that sense.

Now you only need to push apply and restart your computer to make it work.

Thank you for your time.

Kevin / Fluxx

*note2: I have 1 image uploaded, i did wanted to make more only my upload got messed up so please someone else ( That has english windows ) make them :)

*Note3: Please dont mind my poor english spelling as im dislectic and dutch

Hmm, it is worth a try. I usually CTD once an hour so I will go play for a bit and check back in later.

May be not given it long enough yet ?

Tried it out.

Yesterday I was crashing time and time again in the dwarf starter area, today I have been playing for exactly 80 mins doing quests etc and not 1 bsod or ctd.I now live in hope and will try my high elf later on.

Nope. It didn't work for me. Still CTD, every hour or so.

So frustrating.

I did jump the gun still problems. It made me look for other factors and I have found I have 3months old ram that is faulty:(.

I had the same problems in AOC and never thought of ram as I had just bought the computer.

Nope.... I enjoyed it as long as it worked >.> i just got my first Bleu screen on WAR....
I hope they fix it soon, as if i get crashes all the time... i think the play time must be extended with a few days as 30 days is to short then >.>

I am now at the point where it CTD's within minutes if not seconds of the client launching. Tried this trick and (i may have done it incorrectly who knows) it seems to have made zero difference.

So after reinstalling from disc and getting ready to reinstall windows and whipe my harddrive i was playing with in game settings and what worked for me is changing my ingame resolution to the same res as my desktop.

I had previously turned it down to hopefully improve fps and that seems to be what caused all my issues.

Played for several hours today with no CTD at all.

Hope this will help someone

FPS is still unacceptably low for me (9600gt that ran AOC on mostly high settings no problem)

Well its commonly known that the 9000 series was a bit of a feck up from nvidia and those cards were even less fast then the 8000 series... but if you could run Aoc fine you should have no problems with war as it is not that graphic intensive.

Try the 177 G driver from tweakers.net, i got a lot of improved speed and eye candy with it.

Same, Altdorf is a crashfest.

another hint is to do a full file scan (tickbox on the patcher login screen). I used to crash in certain zones regularly until I did this.
