ok so now i am 70, do i need to change the mats?

i am level 70 and the gains seem slow, now i wanted to know if it was the mats i am using.
i am using level 50 main stats, and level 1 bag/essense/gold from vendor

and i just wanted to know then other then using higher level stat mats, if i must also change the bag/mojo coin etc to a higher level also?

So, you are using the basic essences, curios and containers, right? Well, go to the AH and grab some upgraded essences and curios. Scavengers get curios, and essences are made by apothecary from scavenged gold dust and cultivated gold weed. As far as I know, there are no upgraded containers. Here's the pattern made easier:

Curio: Scavenging
Gold Essence: Apothecary; needs Gold Dust and Gold Weed
Gold Dust: Scavenging
Gold Weed: Cultivating

but yes raising the overall level of your mats seems to help with leveling, not sure if colour does as well, i'd suggest not from experience.

Once I got to level 37 talisman making, I attempted to keep making talismans using level 25 fragments and level 1 stuff from the merchant. I tried about 5 times and didn't receive a level up. Even tried twice with level 25 essences added on top of it. So I figured that was a cap point with low level gear.

But clearly I was wrong?

i used vendor brought items, and then the right stats, so 1-25 used 1 level stat items, 25-50 used level 25 stats. but still the same level 1 items from the vendor.

now i am level 70, all done on level 1 stuff from vendor with +stats items being the right level

btw i started using higher level mats, like better ore and found gaining is easyer.

It seems to be a conbination thing, higher total levels more change to gain. When i hit 50 I threw together some old level 25 fragments but didn't want to waste any good other mats so used store bought and random low level curios and i still got a gain out of about 8 of them.

So just use the best combination of high levels you can manage. Colour/rarety may or may not effect the chance to gain. My current impression is i gain more when trying to craft a decent talisman, but i have no figures and no where near enough tests to say if it's true or not.

I am also getting the high failure rate around level 41. Are there no vendors that sell level 25 TM items? Do the guild vendors sell them once your guild reaches lvl 7? I don't won't do burn any more hard earned fragments until I know for sure that they are not going to be wasted.

Guild vendors sell better containers at guild rank 7 however I have heard that to get into the pub where he is you need altdorf at rank 2 :)

I had a similar problem at around 41 but fixed it by only using lvl 25 fragments, curios and essence. The rest of the stuff I used was the merchant level 1 stuff and this increased my leveling by a lot.

As has been said before if you use as many of the higher tier items available you will increase in skill. This is especially true when you reach the end of a tier (ie 40-50) where using more skill level 1 items than skill level 25 ones really slows down your advancement.
