So, here I was, changing all my posts to darkgrey (the white is a little harsh on me eyes) and some chap says, "Hey Denkim, that bright purple text is really hard to read!"
I thought he had gone plum crazy for a moment, but then I whipped up the old IE and checked my posts. Sure enough, they were all coming up looking mighty fruity!
So... what in tarnation is going on here? How can one text color be two different text colors? It seems to only be a problem with the different grey shades...
Here are some tests, open up your regular browser, then IE and check the differences:
lightgrey
grey
darkgrey
Light grey shows up as white (in both Opera and IE)
Grey shows up as green in IE
Dark grey shows up as purple in IE
I havent checked any other browsers, since I got rid of all the others on my last format, so maybe someone else could check firefox and what-have-you.

Very strange indeed. I operate on Firefox, and grey is darker than dark grey.....

decided to do a bit of checking, and in Netscape 7.2 (latest version) the gray is also darker than the dark gray.
but at least it isn't green and purple. god IE sucks.

That's why hexidecimal codes are the future! Damn kids and your "word colors".
Internet Explorer is still the standard...I see no reason why the site should go through another big code makeover to accomodate your silly little Opera browser. :P

Heh heh...
So, your saying that we should just assume that Microsoft knows everything and just decided that dark grey really looks like purple? :)
Anyways, I'm sure if you check the stats for this website, most of the trafic comes from firefox browsers. I think that very little comes from IE.
And like Kilrogg said earlier, "People who use IE should have bright purple text so their eyes melt and they switch over to a decent browser."

I hate to break it to you but the majority of readers on this site use IE by a large margin. Back to your issue Denkim. Are you using the WYSIWYG editor? Which editor are you using? Are you using VBcode? What browser?

Nooooooo! Its impossible!
People need to get changing to other browsers...
I'm using Opera.
So... here's some test text using the wysiwyg editor. Which, as you can see, does not change colors depending on Browser.
The lesson to be learned here is to not type the color code in manually, methinks. Turn your wysiwyg editor all the way up to extreem in your User CP options and use it.

So... I finally figured it all out. Observe:
Typed with the word gray:
LightGray
Gray
DarkGray
Typed with the word grey:
LightGrey
Grey
DarkGrey
Ok, so maybe I didnt figure it ALL out. But as long as you use the editor, you'll be fine.

Sure look that way Selendor...
But seriously - thanks for that list; they're all good in Mozilla Fifefox and I assume they work with IE - guess I'll bookmark this page.
Can we change Magenta to 'Denkim's retina searing pink'?
