What if the Chosen turned out to be a primary tank, secondary offensive spellcaster who needs to melee to charge his skills up? That would make an interesting class indeed, and fits in with all Tzeentch champions being casters as well as melee powerhouses. We're getting Chosen information in the next newsletter, so I'm going to start speculating.
Discuss.

As they say in the Guiness commercials, BRILLIANT! I had a very similair idea in mind for the Chosen. Obviously they needed somthing to do with spellcasting.:)
Those poor Khorne fanboyz will be left to rot it seems.

I used to be a Khorne fanboi myself. I feel so bad now, since it's apparent that Tzeentch was the only real way to go.
It might be fun fighting Khorne Berzerker NPCs in quests.

Hm, perhaps.
Let's see... each tank class's special ability has so far been designed to help them do their job. So the Tank classes "gimmick" has been based on making people not want to ignore the tank. So what he would need would be some kind of spells that he unlock through fighting that help him hold enemy players aggro. Debuff spells maybe?

I think its a good idea, but it'd have to be done well for it to work. What kind of spells did you have in mind though? Nukes, debuffs, dots? And would he have to be in melee range to cast these spells?

I can imagine something like this.
Target takes an additional X% damage. This spell ends when the caster takes X damage.
It would be usable in solo'ing too, just won't be as useful.
Edit: and yeah, spells should be melee range. I was thinking maybe debuffs, since DoTs wouldn't really fit with the class. Perhaps nukes, but I'd rather see melee attacks that leave a debuff. A variation of the above spell:
Threatening Chop
Sword attack. Targets takes X melee damage and an additional X% damage whenever he is targeted by a damaging spell or attack. The debuff ends when the caster takes X damage or after X time has elapsed.

Of course, generic firebally spells, but also.......
"How do you fight an enemy that knows your every move?"
Maybe give him a spell relating to the ability to, predict the enemy's next move in order to prevent it, or somthing else working along those lines. And then you can counter whatever they are doing with some sort of stun/debuff ability.

Target takes X melee damage. The next skill he uses has no effect.
That would be cool. For example, if I used that skill on an opponent, the next skill he uses will fizzle and all energy/morale/mana/whatever used in casting the spell would be lost.

what you are all thinking is similar to what mythic has done with a class in DAoC they call them vampiir's they have to dish out melee damage in order to charge their mana bar (this is the only way to get mana for them) and they have close ranged direct damage spells and debuffs as well as a few buffs for combat speed and heal over time ect... extremely over powered class if you can play it right but not alot of people can but if chosen turns out like them would be sweet

Thats what I'd like to see for the Chosen, a class thats hard to master, but if you play it correctly then it's awesome. The main reason I'd like to see the Chosen like that is because a lot of people are planning on rolling one because they're the most badass looking class yet, and people would most likely think they'd be unstoppable in PvP too, but this way a lot of people would roll a Chosen and have trouble fighting as one, and decide to roll something else. :p

I hope the Chosen will be a strict melee class, leaving the magic to the magus and zealot. Us Chosen have true strength and need not rely on magic to defeat everyone else (yes, everyone).

Isn't this exaclty what the warrior priest does? Fights melee in order to charge up his faith (mana) in order to use his heals, buffs and whatnot? :/

I think the difference with a Warrior Priest and the chosen that these guys are suggisting is that the Chosen can't buff others or heal them, or have any 'aura' mechanics, so the Chosen could be somewhat selfish heh.

I agree. From what Paul said in one video, a Chosen is a warrior of chaos who has decided that he alone will be the bringer of chaos ect. I believe that the Chosen's abilities will be more self centred.

Couldn't agree more, sounds like a fantastic idea.
Maybe to avoid people screaming that it would be a warrior priest copy the chosen would just have a traditional mana bar. This could allow them to be more based on burst damage/debuffs at the start of the fight which is not present in other classes.

dude it's a chosen of tzeench, the most magicy macic magicest magical magic magic ever
also, I like the idea a lot sounds awsome, very tzeenchy and allot more interesting than a straightforward warrior- perhaps he would have attacks of both( not in an overpowered way, I mean he would have normal type attacks like say overhead chop, but also lightning uppercut:p ) and it wouldn't be the same as warrior priest because the priest is not the empire tank, that's a kotbs, plus he heals... why would a chosen heal? I expect more morale build up through battle, then roaring pink flames exude from his sword, searing the fleash and melding armour together of the enemy- somthing like that

To be honest I'm fine either way, if he's a pure melee class then I'm not going to get pissed...
Ideally I'd like him to have atleast a few magical abilities, but rely more on melee attacks. We'll see in the next newsletter hopefully some time this week.
