Past Skill 51?

I seem to be stuck at 51 in scavenging. Does this go up as I increase in Rank? or do I need to scavenge higher level mobs?

I found that in Tier 1 I could only get to 51, once I entered Tier 2 I was able to progress beyond that.

Actually that's not stupid at all, thats normally the way it works.

But not here, all you have to do is keep scavaging things around your level and it'll go up. I'm over 100 now with no additional training.

You will not be able to increase your skill past a certain point once mobs become Effortless or Trivial to you. Your skillups are based on the rank of the mob. The closer to your level they are, the better chance you will gain skill. The best way to earn skill is to scavenge mobs that -1/+2 your level.

Right now my Scavenging level is 85. And I always scavenge EVERYTHING. Whether it be a PQ, Scenario, quest, or RvR, I always take time to Scavenge. You will end up finding some really nice blues/purples to bank and sell off later once the economy grows.

Here is a super easy way to level scavenging past 51:

Scavenge the bodies of fallen enemies in scenarios. I went from 51-77 in two rounds.

I'm rank 17 and my scavanging is 99. I just scavanged every single corpse I could scavange, but not in scenarios.

(Monster level) * 5 = Maximum scavenging skillup you can get scavenging it.

Scavenge something level 10 with 51 skill, no skillup.
Scavenge something level 11+ with 51 skill, reasonably high chance of skillup.

Really though, just scavenge ANYTHING you can get your hands on, it all adds up when you start saving for a shiny shiny mount.

As far as Scavenging seems to go, it seems to be that the farther above your level the Scavenging target was, the higher you can rank up off it.
You can get to 50 by scavenging anything your own rank or below. My first 51 scavenging's got me to 50.
It took me a while to realize that I had to kill much higher level things to get better at it. Right now, I'm at 101. And I have to kill something 6 levels higher than me, to gain anything.

Seems to work like this:
1-50: Scavenge a corpse that is your level.
51-60: Scavenge a corpse that is your level +1.
61-70: Scavenge a corpse that is your level +2.
71-80: Scavenge a corpse that is your level +3.
81-90: Scavenge a corpse that is your level +4.
91-100: Scavenge a corpse that is your level +5.
101-???: Scavenge a corpse that is your level +6.

I'm assuming it stays in the same pattern for the rest of the way up, but no way to test that. I'm only 17, and have to kill 23's to get the rank ups. That's tough for my SW and my fellow SW buddy.

I know people say not to, but I vendor all my scavenging items. I've saved up over 25g for my mount from it, so I'm happy. Great moneymaker.

I didn't find leveling that complicated. My IB hunts most things my level +/- 2 levels at most and easily got to 100 skill at level 19. Seems to be totally random check on whether it skills up or not. But I did find that the closer I got to 100 the faster the skill ups happend.

It's really not this complicated.

In my experience, it only has to do with the level of the mob.

Level 1 - 10 mob = 50 Scavenging max
Level 11 - 20 mob = 100 Scavenging max
Level 21 - 30 mob = 150 Scavenging max
Level 31 - 40 mob = 200 Scavenging max

I'm currently at level 105 Scavenging, and it's been there for a while. Tier 2, I believe.

Psst, a mount only costs 15g. You don't even need to save for that. Unless you spend it all on coke and hookers, you should easily have that much at 17.

Also, yeah, scavenge anything. Did a pq not long ago, mostly just running behind the other guys who killed everything, I could hardly keep up :p

I got stuck at 52 as well...
2 solutions: scavange the bodies in RvR, or search WarDB website for monsters that drop Apothecary items lvl 50. There aren't many listed, but enough you can grind and get to lvl 60 where most of your drops probably are.

Thanks Geekcheck! Good info! Although I have difficulty scavenging during RVR it takes too much time and I should be killing...I let it slide during RVR but not anywhere else.
