View Full Version : Contradicting effects, which takes priority?

This has been wracking my mind for a while. Say that someone has regenerative shielding procced on them, and then a Witch Elf walks behind them and uses Agonizing Wound, what happens? Will the attack ignore armor since it was used behind the target? Or will regenerative shielding stop the armor penetration as stated? Also, how does this interact with armor ignoring procs?

There's no contradiction there. Agonizing Wound is an armor penetration attack, and Regenerative Shielding says that the target ignores armor penetration. So, Agonizing Wound doesn't penetrate the armor. That (and armor pen. procs too) are specifically what Regenerative Shielding is for, as they are much bigger effects than weapon skill.

Nope, I think what happens is Agonizing Wound still ignores the armor. What Regenerative Shielding does is increases armor and stop armor penetration. Armor penetration comes from weapon skill. I don't think an attack like Agonizing Wound penetrates 100% of the armor, but instead bypasses the armor calculation all together.

That is the WE mirror of my Torment and in fact it ignores all armor and I just get to happily smack away at your HP unmolested by any reduction but Toughness. I agree with the previous post that this isn't a contradiction and prevents the WE's ability to ignore your armor.

AW still ignores your armor, it your shield simply prevents armor penetration from WS etc..
