so i just jumped on the warhammer train inspyred by the game to actually paint my goblins i had sitting on my desk. i have stated looking into armies i might be interested in starting collecting however i had trouble finding a army to my liking i have learned some about warhammer 40k and i found necrons to be interesting so i am asking is there a army with simelar tactics/abilitys as the necrons. meaning hard to take down and ability to genareta wounds and stand up again after being killed so anyone have a sugestion on what army i should look into?

tomb king or vampire counts would be my guess .. never looked into the specs of warhammer fantasy army's though other then picking out the mini's i wanted to paint.

regernation is a odd thing in fantasy

undead are vampire counts and tomb kings but they are not tough or strong or skilled or anything really. basic stat line for a VC zombie is ws 1 or 2 str 2 T2 Init 1 or 2 ld 2 or 3. a skeleton is a basic human with less WS, I, LD. armor wise zombies have none, skeletons best you can do is light armor, HW shield. now then you get Wights which are far better still only WS3 but S 4, T 4, I 3, heavy armor, killing blow, magic weapon. few other surprises

for both armies you use magic to raise them VC one spell that you know automatically raises or heals d6 infantry models or 1 cavalry, ethereal, vampire models and its cast on a 4+ or less if you have certain vampire powers. tomb kings all their spells auto cast you just roll dice to give the amount opponent has to beat for dispelling. i think kings only have like 4 incantations though.

VC you have your tar pits which is usually hordes of zombies or skeletons then you have your heavy hitters which is usually characters, black knights, wights, wraiths, blood knights. being undead they will never run ever, also means you can not flee from a charge, when you lose the difference is extra wounds you have to take.

so if you have a huge block of 40 zombies take 6 wounds enemy gets +4 combat res for ranks and banner and you get the normal 5 for ranks banner outnumber you still lose by 5 and lose 5 extra zombies. but in the magic phase with certain items or skills you can raise them back up with little problem.

also VC are the only army that can have more points on the board than what they started with. with certain skills spells you can make new units of zombies or spirit hosts, you can add on to a block past its orginal amount. So with certain traits you can turn a starting 10 block of skeletons into a block of 30.
