Yea yea, another thread, but last night these things kept coming to me:grin:
Do we get snares like a few other of the healing classes like shamans (And we need it more) or is it too un-warrior priesty of us. After all we are melee and healers, can we have debuffs ontop of that?
To be fair the KotBS have been said to be inspirers, not like the black orc with slowdowns, and fire wizards don't seem to be very slow-ish, so were does the empire get it's slowdowns?
Are we to spend our lives chasing after targets to gain enough Fury to heal?:o

Cant answer any of the class abilities questions, but what i know,is that you DONT need Fury/Waaaugh to heal.It only increases the effect of the heal but i dont think that you need to have fury/waaaugh for a basic heal.

This is a worthwhile question.
Snares can have a huge impact in PvP. For one, so people can't just run away whenever they start getting their arse handed to them. That is probably the MOST annoying thing I encountered on my paladin in WoW. They had no snares, where most classes had movement enhancing effects of some sort, or movement debuffs, and all they had to do was turn and run pretty much anytime they wanted to.
It's a difficult issue to balance, one that kinda makes my head hurt to be honest.
I would imagine, if all the classes are balanced correctly, it would be best for snares to rather limited in PvP. That, or you're gonna see everyone walking around slowed the entire time, which is kind of stupid. Movement speed was way too large of a factor in WoW if you ask me, a part of the broken PvP system that could be exploited (mages anyone?) and took away from the actual "combat". Just my thoughts.
[EDIT] I just realized this is a Warrior Priest topic, so I may have just spouted off a whole bunch of nonsense that has already been addressed...If that's the case, I apologize...I'm on a lot of medication right now. :(

Mmmmmm medication.....
I believe it is still too early to know what kind of combat capabilities we will have. Snares would be good but from my understanding of what I have read, opponents who turn their back to you to run away are asking for a damage multiplier.
It would be good to see some kind of snare or CC (or whatever you want to call it) as long as it doesn't take control from my opponents player for more then a couple seconds or only slow him for only a few more. My own two coppers on it is I would rather have a knockback ability where I hit you with some serious Righteous Indignation. Something that could either give me some breathing space if I get swamped or knock a runner down so I can give them a taste of the Sigmarite Stomp.
It might even be better if we had some sort of Throw ability with a stun added to it to give us a chance to close against Ranged opponents. I just have this dread of the Kite.
Time for some beer.

Actually wasn't one of the warrior priest skills "Weight of guilt"?

Yes. Which appeared to be a DD damage spell, without a snare to speak of.
However, we do know that the Warrior Priest has the ability "Throw," so there is something you can do from range.

Yea, but I don't think it's a usual attack, and one hit doesn't seem too dangerous:(

Well, from the video, it seems spammable, and it does about 5 damage per hit,
which is pretty sizable for Tier 1, Rank 1.

how about we give soul blast a snare effect?
i read soul blast was an aoe effect spell, maybe it should have a "root" not slow down effect which should remain with the squig herders.
like Vehement said it was grossly unfair in a game for you to facemelt someone only to have them run away with nothing you could do about it. and from the WP description, youre not equipped to run anyway.
with whatever Mythic designs, i hope the message to anybody who tries to run from battle is "oh no you dont" and any class should be able to finish off a runner easily

I believe everyone has a sprint ability like in Dark Age which is both for escaping and chasing. It is not just 'How do I chase an opponent down?' but also 'How can I escape my opponent?.'
I think that as long as everyone else doesn't have a big pool of escape abilities, it's not so bad if you can't snare them. Hopefully snares aren't a huge thing to rely on in WAR, it can get overdone pretty fast ;)

New info. From watching the longer German video, it's pretty clear that Weight of Guilt snares or roots, you can see gold rings appear around the knees of a target hit with the spell.

I saw that, it happens on the big glowy attack, not the first one, was that weight of guilt?

First attack is Throw. Weight of Guilt is the big glowy one.

Off topic: Your heresy shall be purged.
On topic: Good to see you found us a possibility of a snare but what about anti-snare abilities?
