Is fire the only type of magic a Bright Wizzard can cast? What about ice and such?

I recommend you watch some of paul barnett's enthusiastic little flim thingies about this very topic.

but to answer your question briefly. they just use fire. nothing but fire. they're pyromaniacs. no ice. no lightning bolts. just fire and lots of it.

The answer is pretty simple. No!
The Bright Wizard specializes in fire spells so that's all he uses.

Greetings Brother Fluks!

You seem confused about the ways of Aqshy, but don't worry ! Papa Pavlov is here to help you answer those really burning questions.

First of all !

Here (http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/gameInfo/armiesofWAR/Empire/Careers/BrightWizard.php) you will find a brief description of the Bright Wizard career.

Secondly. This (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8873) is the thread you should read carefully as it contains a great deal of information regarding Bright Wizards and other types of magic, except that of fire.

Thirdly. Here (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9805), you can find out information of the fighting style the Bright Wizard will most probably have. You can even cast your vote on your favourite fighting style for the Bright Wizard.

And last, but not least. In this (http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7704) thread, ideeas and information about the Bright Wizard spells are being discussed/debated.

Other than what I have said above.....The Bright Order welcomes you warmly!

To explain why they can only use fire, it is because humans are too weak and uneducated to use any higher form of magic than the ability to control a single wind (magic in Warhammer is divided into the eight Chaos winds of magic, bright magic being one of them), and the Bright Wizard specialized in Bright Magic, which involved fire and light.

More magic-centric factions like the worshippers of Tzeentch(the playable Chaos faction in W.A.R.) or elves can use more than just an individual wind.

I.E. High Elves use "High Magic", which is a very advanced form than just control of elements like Imperial mages.

This has nothing to do with the topic. We do not need another thread locked for WoW bashing. Keep that outside these boards.

Well now. Bright Wizards control fire and heat, so maybe they could make ice by gathering all the heat from water and moving it somewhere else very, very quickly. But thermodynamics hasn't been fully explored in the warhammer world so for now they just throw fireballs around.

That said, there are a few simple rituals any wizard can learn - sensing and dispelling magic, levitating, minor illusions. And there are a fair few possible spells that would fit the Bright Wizard if they had some flame and smoke effects added - teleportation and telekinesis come to mind. Finally, Bright Wizards get to use the symbolism of fire in their magic as well as its physical manifestation, giving you spells that do things like "unlock the fires of courage in the hearts of your allies" and "burn out all taint of poison from the blood". So you never know.

We could get the education from our Elven tutors, but its true, humans do lack the magical capacity to channel more than one wind of magic at a time. However, we make up for that with our ingenuity, we use the Keys to enhance our destructive powers far beyond that of the Elves. The power of the Elven magic is dwarfed by the destructive potential of ours, since they are a..pacifist race, choosing to use their powers in proportion to what the situation calls for. Whereas we Pyromancers choose to go above and beyond, theres no such thing as overkill to us, just a burning exceptionally well done.

A Bright Wizard could defeat an Elven Mage simply because we dont underestimate our opponents, we use all our power because we like to. And also, we can use all the winds if we so wished to, just not all at once, we chose fire because its the easiest and most useful, and we have little time to master all of them. We arent immortal or anything.

Our potential with fire is unlimited, we control it like no others on this world, Chaos flame doesnt even match our best. But the fact of the matter is we dont have the time nor..lives to conduct advanced experiments on the boundaries of scientific manipulation of pure fire. Thermodynamics, as you said, is far off from being more than a theory. We arent dealing with normal fire, after all, this is magical fire. This fire combusts on impact, can level blocks and incinerate armour down to ashes! You have to be cautious with this type of thing. How are we supposed to keep the magic distilled and calm when Chaos and Orc hordes come bashing at our towers?

The magic Pyromancers use is elemental, the arcane magic you're talking about; illusion, detection and dispelling of magical influence and levitation, is channeled specifically by the knowledge to do so. Its not governed specifically by a wind, and therefor we dont specialize in it, nor do we care to do so. Our time is spent becoming one with our Fire, its not just training, its becoming! You have to commit yourself to the flame or be burnt by it, cheap tricks dont work on the battlefield, levitation will put you out of range of the blade, but not the arrow.

You're symbolism is pretty much spot on, but its only symbolism. I doubt Wizards will have the ability to "burn out all taint of poison from the blood", which Im assuming is magical healing of disease, but he will be able to enflame the passions of his allies. You've never been in a battle until you've felt the fire take over you, burn your senses, your heart, set your soul alight!

Apparently, the other thing Bright Wizards do is make bad puns...

If you want to start flaming then this is the wrong place to do it.
