From what I'm seeing right now, increasing your gear does not appear to make as large a difference in your damage output as it does in other games. It does, however, make a fairly noticeable difference in terms of survivability. It also makes you look pretty damn cool.

I'm getting the impression that gear is more of a "badassness" badge that you wear in order to better differentiate yourself from others to represent your dedication to the game. You also get to maybe hit or survive a little longer than folks with less renown than you.

Again, this is good. What I don't want to see is yet another game where having insanely good gear serves mostly as a crutch for substandard players with overly-large mouths and egos.

I just hope this is consistent with the endgame experience. Can anyone at or near 40 confirm that this feeling of gear not making a ridiculous difference remains?

200 views and no replies? Is that good or bad?

No comments at all?

This forum really isn't the place for a general question about the nature of gear. Do you have a specific question about how gear attributes are assigned? How attributes on gear contribute to overall performance?

Perhaps if you clarify your initial post and identify a clear problem or provide a clear thesis for an argument, someone will better be able to help you with your concern.

I'll let this sit for now and see if you have a problem that is relevant to the Mechanic Analysis forum. If you don't, I'll move this thread to a more appropriate forum.

I'm only up to lv18, well the gear isn't really as hard to get as it was in WoW, I'm not sure how huge of a difference it makes until end game. You career and your level makes a bigger difference I think so far at this point.

Also the gear as far and blues and purples up to this point I have seen are actually pretty weak, and in many cases the greens are better and have more stats. They also need more variety of art work and design for the gear as much of it looks the same which is disappointing.
Maybe if the tiers were broken down too T1 Level 9 max, T2 Level 19 max, etc. it would help the feeling of being underpowered.

Ah, I see. I felt that gear was a game mechanic that would be best discussed here.

You can remove this thread, I suppose my concerns are already being addressed elsewhere.
