I have no plans for these other than painting them and putting them on my desk to look at out of boredom, no tabletop stuff for me.

Anyways, I am looking for:
- Anything from fantasy or 40k as long as it is not too big and complicated.
- Nothing boring, but nothing so elaborate that it will garner me any "what the hell is that thing?" questions.
- I would prefer one medium - sized hero unit or a squad of standard units.
- I have no preference on army, but like I said nothing too flashy.

That's about it, thanks.

if you want something easy to start with a necron warrior squad would be a good start they are easy to paint and the result looks awsome

If you can find one(maybe on ebay or something), get a Thrud the barbarian.

Necron have too little eye candy imo. 70% of their guys are like footmen and the rest are bikes + that pyramid thing.
I'd get a spacemarine or Tau. They tend to be easily moddable to look cool.
