Stuck at Level 55

So, I finally got salvaging up to level 55. My past 3 attempts at salvaging SUCCEEDED, I got the fragment and all the goodies...but NO SKILL INCREASE. The items I salvaged were lvl 17 so they definitely should yield a skill up as that is just two levels under the max i can currently salvage.

I'm rank 24 so I don't think that is the issue...any ideas?

there is no guarantee that a successful salvage will result in a skill up.

yeah, just keep on trying, you wont always get a skillpoint.
its more likely to get a skillpoint when you use higher lvl items, but the salvage-attempts will also fail more often, so there's the downside=)

happened to me more than once that i successfully salvaged an item, with the highest possible lvl, (for my current salvage skill) without getting a skillpoint

Sure enough, lsat night after 4 more "successful" attempts at max level I finally go another skill point (56, woo hoo!). It's been said before, but this system is in need of some...adjusting.

It seems that after 50 the difficulty of most professions goes WAY UP, making it very difficult to get skill points.

So, it's hard, but not impossible. Keep trying.

Sure enough, I was stuck in the high 40's and low 50's for quite awhile too. I would say I'd probably dinged 1 point out of 20 or so.......BUT, last night I scored 9 straight points. That was probably my longest streak of skill points ever so far. I have salvaged probably 10-15 blue items so far and scored only 1 blue frag. The blue frag made a 5D talisman (which I quickly sold on the AH). =)

i think you are just salvaging items that are too low a level. if you arnt failing some times on items of that level its too low. if you have 100 skills and salvaging rank 7 items you will succeed every time and never get a point.

that being said, in the 50s, you should be doing rank 15-17 items i believe.


i currently have 77 salvaging, and i am doing rand 21-22 items. i can do rank 23, but i fail most of the time. i imagine when i get my skill to 81 i will be able to succeed on rank 23 items more often, and get a skill point a great deal of the time.

Volune is absolutely correct, you should be failing if your salvaging the right level items. It's not meant to be something that you can max the skill out in a couple of days so I cant complain to much about it (I did have an enchanter in WoW so I know the pains well). I am in my 60's and currently salv items between 17-21 for decent point success rate.
