Is there any way to cancel a salvage?

I accidentally clicked on a nice shield I was using and it salvaged it. I did everything I could think of to stop it; hammered Escape, jumped up and down, etc.

I had the same experience. A cancel button or just canceling by hitting ESC would be nice. I like that you can use it on the run though.
