Before you read I just want to point out that I entered this in for a writing contest at my school and I just want to see what whoever reads it thinks of it:

It was nightfall in the Moonsilk Glades and in the village of Enk, a feast was being held celebrating the victory against the gargoyle clan. All the villagers were in the village hall, humans, children and even elves from other realms had come here to join the celebration, for it was a glorious moment for all of those that lived in Enk. People were dancing and singing and kissing and drinking and laughing.
*However, only a few miles away there was a tiny cave where things were not so jolly. Three creatures that had the appearance of gigantic bats made completely of stone were making their way further into the cave by hacking and slashing at the rocky walls. Even though the three of them were very young, they all had the strength to dig their way through with just their claws reasonably quickly. They had been digging for four days without rest and had already dug several yards into the cave, but little did they know they still had a long way to go to get to what they were looking for.
*They had been face to face with the Emperor of the gargoyles, whom they called Lord Obsidian, and he told them of a certain treasure in the Moonsilk Glades which was essential for the war against the humans and the elves. He did not tell them what it did or what it looked like, but he did say that when they were to find it they would know and that they should report back to him immediately.
*Meanwhile in the throne room of the Onyx Tower, Lord Obsidian was planning another attack on the human city of Thunderkin.
*"My liege, we have very little army left to fight against a city so large and so fortified," said the General of the army Lord Obsidian had ordered to go and attack Thunderkin. There was a slight hesitation in the General's voice.
*"Are you questioning my orders? How dare you!" hissed Lord Obsidian, his glowing eyes squinting and his claws scraping the arms of his Granite throne. "I am perfectly aware of the situation we are in, but we still have plenty of army left. There are still the golems whom we have not called to our aid. Those grunts at the Moonsilk Glades carry on digging and the prophecy says that the artifact will only be found once there is a second victory against the enemy. And as you know we've already razed one of the elven cities."
*"I apologize, my liege, I will reassemble my army and march towards the gates of Thunderkin. However I will not be able to gather any golems as I do not have enough power to control them."
*"Do not worry, I shall take care of them."
*With those words the General bowed, spreading his wings, and left the room. Lord Obsidian told the guards that were standing at the doorway to leave, and, with a bow, they obeyed. Lord Obsidian got off his throne and stood in the centre of the room. There was a large circle where he was standing and within it several other circles and within those circles were inscriptions written in Gargoylum.
*Lord Obsidian spread out his huge black wings, which were shining in the light of the room, and looked up to the ceiling murmuring something in Gargoylum. He closed his eyes. The light in the room began to get dimmer until eventually there was none left. He carried on murmuring the incantations. Suddenly a dim purple light emerged from the ground around Lord Obsidian and rising with it was a huge beast made completely of rock. The purple light that the monster had risen with disappeared when it was still. He carried on murmuring the incantations. Another purple light rose from the floor and with it another beast. Still with his eyes closed he carried on murmuring the incantations. Two more purple lights and two more of the same creature.
*The same ritual carried on for hours until eventually Lord Obsidian opened his eyes. He looked around and saw hundreds upon hundreds of huge humanoid figures made completely of stone, some granite, others pewter and the occasional onyx beasts. Each one with a tiny imp or dragon-like creature on their shoulder. These were their familiars.
*"Golems!" shouted Lord Obsidian. "You have been summoned by I, Lord Obsidian, and you will follow my orders or I shall be forced to dismiss you back into the underworld. Understood?" The golems roared some of them raising their arms. "Excellent! I have called you all into this realm to destroy those who have trapped you in the underworld for so long: the alliance of elves and men." An even bigger roar rose from the golems and all of them raised their arms. Their familiars began to fly around their masters in excitement. "Your first objective is to aid my army in the destruction of the human city of Thunderkin! Now go and do the thing you were created to do!" Another roar came from the golems and they marched out of the throne room in an orderly way, though having to crouch to get through the door.
*****
The next morning, the king of Thunderkin sent out two scouts to see what was going on in the Stoneclaw Plains, the land where the Onyx Tower sat. The two of them rode off and after only several hours of riding (it would usually take a day or two to ride from Thunderkin to the Stoneclaw Plains) the two of them saw several armies of monsters marching in their direction in the horizon. The two of them were completely stunned at the sight and rode back to Thunderkin as quickly as their horse could gallop. They told the king of Thunderkin of the army that was marching towards the city and the news of the army's arrival spread rapidly.
*An army to protect the citizens of Thunderkin was gathered as quickly as possible but because of the fact that it was an unexpected attack, there were hardly any experienced soldiers in the army, especially since they had to come face to face with gargoyles and golems.
*Night came quickly to the city of Thunderkin and so did the armies of golems and gargoyles. They waited outside the walls of Thunderkin jeering and shouting attempting to make the armies inside Thunderkin scared to the bone, and their attempts were successful.
*After what seemed like a very long while for the armies inside Thunderkin, the chanting stopped and the gargoyles began to take flight while the golems advanced towards the walls. Many of the gargoyles were heavily armoured and had large boulders in their hands but seemed to have no trouble at all in flying. The golems, on the other hand, were very slow and not armoured at all, but their "skin" which for all of them was made of rock was sufficient protection from the puny swords of the humans.
*The golems began bashing at the walls while the gargoyles dropped the boulders onto the soldiers inside the walls of Thunderkin, killing many of them and wounding the ones that didn't die. Only a small amount of them were able to dodge the boulders and have a try at shooting the gargoyles with arrows or crossbow bolts.
*The sounds of horns could be heard coming from deep inside Thunderkin signaling to the citizens that were not fighting to take shelter in their houses incase the gargoyles came and attacked them. It was no use, however, as the gargoyles would just burst into the tiny huts and kill anyone that they would find in them.
*The warriors of Thunderkin were being slaughtered and within a matter of minutes the remaining soldiers were retreating to the now empty houses, until eventually all of the golems and gargoyles killed them all and razed the city to the ground.
*As soon as the destruction of Thunderkin had begun, a discovery in a cave in the Moonsilk Glades had been made. The three gargoyles that had been tunneling their way to find the sacred artifact they were sent to look for had been found, or at least they thought so. They could dig no more for they had reached an impassible piece of stone with writing that had been inscribed onto it. They didn't have the knowledge to read it but one of them quickly exited the cave and flew as quickly as he possibly could back to the Onyx Tower to tell Lord Obsidian of their discovery.
*"My Lord," began the gargoyle hesitantly when he eventually arrived late in the night. "We have found something in the cave that we think may interest you. We do not know if it is what we are looking for, my Lord, but it has inscriptions that we cannot read on it."
*"Did I not tell you that you would know what it is when you found it?" hissed Lord Obsidian lifting himself from his throne. "If it truly was the artifact we were looking for then, according to the prophecy, you would know."
*"Please, my Lord, we think it is past the rock with the inscriptions."
*"Very well, I shall have to take a look. But if it is not what I seek then your skin shall become part of my throne!"
*The gargoyle and Lord Obsidian flew off to the Moonsilk Glades and arrived at the cave after flying for several hours. When the gargoyle showed Lord Obsidian the inscriptions and he read them aloud:
What lies beyond these walls is sacred and shall only be found and used once the second victory has been won, ending the long fought war for the rest of eternity.
*With these words the inscriptions lit up, and the wall that had been blocking the path shattered like glass. And there, a large morning star glowing brightly in the darkness of the cave. The ball on the end was made completely of gold and so were the spikes, and as they gleamed in their own light, the weapon moved slowly towards the four gargoyles. With a swift movement the huge weapon struck one of the gargoyles and smashed him into thousands of small pieces of stone.
*The weapon then struck the other two gargoyles standing beside Lord Obsidian giving the same effect as the blow it gave to the first gargoyle. It moved infront of Lord Obsidian and stopped.
*"You are the one who began this war," came a voice making Lord Obsidian look around in terror. "I have already vanquished your gargoyle soldiers and banished your golem minions back to the underworld and you shall be the last one that shall die."
*"What is going on?" stammered Lord Obsidian, looking with squinting eyes at the gleaming morning star. "The prophecy says that when the weapon is found the war shall end once the second victory is finished."
*"Precisely why I shall finish you off here and now. I am the human god of war and I am here to aid them in their victory. I forged this mighty weapon to destroy the gargoyles. As for the prophecy, that was made far before the existence of us gods for that was prophesied by somebody far beyond our abilities."
*"You cannot destroy me for I am Lord Obsidian and I am the son of the gargoyle god Onyxia!"
*"We shall see who destroys who," said the voice and all of a sudden a large man appeared infront of Lord Obsidian and he was fully armoured with the finest platemail Lord Obsidian had ever seen.
*The god swung at Lord Obsidian and he dodged it by a fraction and swiftly leapt back and out of the way. The god ran towards Lord Obsidian and took another swing which was again quickly dodged. Suddenly, Lord Obsidian knew that he was in trouble because the platemail that the god of war was wearing didn't seem to encumber him in the slightest, making him very quick and agile but at the same time almost physically indestructible. However it was do or die time in the eyes of Lord Obsidian so he began to flap his wings and fly out of the cave where there would be more space for him to move and fight.
*The god of war chased him, his powerful legs taking him trough the cave at an amazingly rapid pace, but he didn't catch Lord Obsidian up until they were outside the cave. Lord Obsidian flew into the air where he thought the god of war could not reach him, but he was wrong. The god began to grow and so did the armour he was wearing and so did the weapon he was carrying.
*"I shall destroy you!" roared the god of war and swung at, what to him was a miniature bat made entirely of stone.
*He swung at the tiny creature but Lord Obsidian made another quick dodge, meanwhile with his other hand he had continuous attempts to grab him. This was how the battle remained until Lord Obsidian made a quick swoop at the god's face, and, anticipating this, he grab the minute Lord Obsidian and crushed him there and then, blowing his pieces into the wind.
*He then disappeared and said to the rest of the gods when he got to their feasting table, "The gargoyle and his minions have been taken care of and the human and elven races are safe once more from the evil scourge of the gargoyles."

Whilest I did like this story it lacks detail somehow, you could perhaps have described the throne room, or perhaps a captain of the men? too much details wouldn't be nice and they would make the read boring but a bit more details to this story wouldn't be a bad thing in my opinion. And instead of using * to signify different places or something just use the Enter button.

Not sure how you presented it in the writing contest at your school but more double enters give make it an easier read.

On the *s, you don't need them. On a PC, don't indent the first line of the paragraph, just leave an extra line space.
