Does this Crackling of weapons at high level actually have an in game effect? OR is it purely Aesthetic?

Its possible. It says in their description that they can harness the 8 winds of magic. So who knows.

I would say almoust Aesthetic.
Because weapon "stats" tell you how good weapon it is. Not outlook.

But ofcourse usually good looking weapon is good also... in games.

I would not look for "the best class" or best damage dealer. That wont help you at all. Game will be balanced group vs group. And probably 2handed axe is good as 2x axe.

the more powerfull the weapon and the higher your level the better the weapons will look most likely I think that is to be expected.
