what's with all the ranged abilities that choppas have ? are they gonna be a hybrid range and melle like the witch hunter or are their range attacks just a way to catch up to the fleeing opponent/ take out low health enemies
I just reviewed the Choppa abilities, and there is only 1 ranged move I saw in the bunch: Flying Choppa, where they throw their choppa at someone, supposedly as a finish the low health caster that is now trying to kite, or as an interrupt.
The classes seem very different to me, although they fill similar roles of melee dps. It would seem, just to me, that face to face the Choppa does more damage while the Witch Hunter will be more versatile.

There were two, one required Beserk, one didn't.
2/ somewhere in the region of 50 skills doesn't really make for melee/ranged.
Choppa will be all about melee, and have some back up ranged attacks if some cheeky bugger is running away, kiting, behind the front row with low health. But he's a dual-wielding psycho with the most offensive melee power in the game out of all the classes so far.
Witch Hunter: Status Effects, one rapier one Gun, vials of holy water, stakes, crosses, positional damage.
Hammerer: Hitting Things, knocking them down, knocking them back, knocking them down hitting them then knocking them back, thicker armor, slightly more defensive.
Marauder: Unknown but mutations, flamethrowers spike throwers for shooting, tentacles and claws for holding, stabby choppy and smashy things for melee damage.
Choppa: All about chopping things with 2 swords, in their face doing lots of damage in light armor, toe 2 toe brawling, going Beserk and doing stuff like knocking them down then jumping up and down on them.
That's 4 "Melee DPS" with 2 more to go, I sincerely doubt that any of them will be remotely similar despite the fact they fulfill a certain "Profession Category" within each Race.
I don't think this would be similar to a Which Hunter, which seems to me to be more of a Van Hellsing character (another reason not to play them), running around in circles shooting and throwing things, but with the ability to run in and finish off if necessary. Choppas seem to be much more melee focused with some ranged just to finish off. Personally I like the idea of flinging my sword at my opponent to finish them off as they run away. Having played WoW for 2 years I know the pains you feel when you've almost won and then you start to get kited around.
I think it would be a very interesting style if you had to run after your choppa after you threw it. This would lend a slight amount of tactics to the idea, making it more of a last resort than an optional ranged if there was the possibility it might not kill your opponent.
However, it will probably be very much like the ranged paladin finisher in WoW, lots of damage, but requires to much skill points to use in the midst of combat.
i dont see much simularity to the witch hunter. Choppa melee based with few ranged attacks. we wont be using our ranged attacks for our most damage, u get in to melee chop someone and maybe he puts a stun on you and then runs for his life when he is at low health, there u go! use ur ranged attack and youre enemy is dead. :P

i would more compair it to the rogues Deadly Throw.

I believe the Witch Hunter can be more compared to a Rogue in means of survivability but in terms of "utility" ( snares , blinds , stuns ) he houses a larger selection then a choppa who's main forté is DPS output.

Where did ya git dis from? Ya silly git!
There seem to be a small number of ranged abilities for the Choppa. And the Witch Hunter is supposed to be more "melee DPS" anyways. The Bright Wizard is the ranged one. The ability lists are not even complete.
I expect the Choppa to be more secondary tank like, with beserking melee abilities. While the witch hunter would be more "stealth like" (yea, there is no stealthing in game, but sneaking around/behind people and attacking), and probably a little less durable than the Choppa.
Then again, this is all speculation. But a Human with a sabre and a pistol will play much differently than an Orc with 2 crudely fashioned "swords". Maybe read up on it before you post? :P

Well said Vidrak, the witch hunter will need to be more aware of his surroundings then a Choppa would. Or e iz in for a good stompin'!
