Ok I love using a Bow...

What personal ranged weapons would everyone like to see in WAR?

Throwing stars
Throwing knives
Throwing axes
Bows, (long, short, recurve, etc)
Crossbows
Slings
Spears
Javelins
Boomerangs
Rifles (Musket / threaded barrell) ???
Hand guns (pepper box, single shot, cap/ball, etc.) ??

I just hope they have ogre NPCs with brace of handguns.

Well, looking at the careers:

- Bright Wizard: are ranged weapons.
- Warrior Priest: throwing hammers.
- Witch Hunter: pistols and more pistols.
- Knight of the Blazing Sun: prob. nothing, but maybe a crossbow?

If memory serves me right, most of the knightly orders carried a pistol sidearm (at least one) they are modled after knights of the holy roman empire. late knights were called reiters, and carried pistols - which is where the pistoliers from TT come from.

Atlatls

You cant get much cooler than Atlatls, it is even a fun word to say, rolls off the tongue. Doesnt matter though, they won't be in, more of a stone age weapon.

As for what you put in...

I'd rather not see slings
(unless they are very large and attached to the end of a catapult, i.e. Trebuchet)

nor throwing stars; they really aren't effective weapons, not enough weight.


Also, Franciscas might be cool, those are the throwing axes that barbarians (aka early Franks) use to throw ahead of their charge in order to divert the enemies attention, possibly break shields, and cause casualties.

Well the question isn't the careers is it what weapons would you lik to seem them be able to use...?

All I ask is that my knight will be able to use a rifle, even if he is poor with it. Just for the RP. Actually, it might be better if he was poor with it.

I was putting forth my opinion as to what they will be able to use, based on their career.

Anything ranging from Flintlock pistols, Muskets, Rifles to simple Bows and Crossbows should be fine. Would not rather see any slings, throwing stars or boomerangs in game, that would look just silly...


p.s Throwing knives, axes, spears could be a possible, but not for the Empire as they are too tech and gunpowder oriented, much as the Dwarfs are...

Erm not to diss or kill your thread, but i've put up a poll. Probably a bit more efficient for gauging what people want in terms of ranged weaponry.
