Cool advanced career for knights?

I thought that once you sign up for an Order your stuck for life. Anyone care to correct me on this?

Yeah, I don't think you can just change Order like that. Also, I'm pretty sure KotBS is one of the few orders that allow people without noble birth in.

Warhammer Fantasy the PnP RPG has an advanced career system, though many of the character classes given including KoTBS are already advanced careers.

I propose a slightly different take on this idea: add another knightly order as a sort of prestige class that can be earned by doing the appropriate quest with any Order-aligned character. Your current character wouldn't change to this class, but you'd earn yourself the right to make an Empire knight with a somewhat different appearance. It would play just the same as the KotBS, but add a bit of colour and prestige for the players that earn it.

i dont know why they went with knights of the blazing sun out of all those others. Reiksguard would have been cooler, or just starting out as a knight and then choosing what order you want to go into later in the game.

You have to cater for everyone including the role players and not all knights will want to be nobles as Ralzar said it's one of the few orders that isn't comprised entirely from nobles. they're also one of the most easily recognised orders particularly to players who's only experience of Warhammer is through the Mark of Chaos game. Also with their devotion to Myrmidia they have a unique story.

As for the Reiksguard they're the Emporer's household guard which dosn't leave as much scope in terms of story as you can get with the KotBS. Hopefully the decision to go with KotBS will be well justified by the games storyline which from what i can tell is a big focus of the game.
