Van Helsing. Hands down. Ash is great, don't get me wrong, I'm an Evil Dead fan at heart, but in Bram Stoker's Dracula Helsing is the . The character has everything: Wit, intelligence, an impressive length of post-nominal letters.

Let us be honest. Van Helsing wouldn't have been owned by the pygmy-gnome creatures that spawn Evil Ash.

Alot of people seem to think his name is Arucard, sience the anime is fan subbed into english they mistake the R for L.

His real name is Dracula, Alucard(Spelled Backwards) its just his anagram, sience vampires cant rename themselfs they have to switch the letters in their names or some thing like that, check Wikipedia on him. Theres also alot of hints in the manga/OAV that he is Vlad the Impaler(Real life Dracula).

No offence intended, I just get annoyed when people say Arucard.

While Professor (yes, I looked it up) Abraham Van Helsing is a good slayer of all things monstrous, I have to go with Ash. Army of Darkness has it all: monsters, bad jokes, and a hero who cranks out one-liners like nobody's buisness. Who can argue with an improved line like "Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun"?:lol:

Prof. Van Helsing. He's the only one that has the kick pointy hat, where the hell can u go wrong with that. Oh, and chaos dude, we're in the temple of Altdorf. Unless i'm mistaken, i think that we have a champion here by the name of Abbadon, or Abandon, I can never get the names of those petty chaos "champions" right. Just go through the front gates, hang a left at the Purple Gryphon Tavern, and it's the 1st big spiney castelated temple on the right. You cant miss it. Oh, and Abandon left me a message to give you **opens torn piece of white paper that appears to have a brown stain on it from where the witch hunter wiped his with it** ahem! "GET ME THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!! THESE MAD HATTERS ARE SCARY!!!" I think thats about the size of it. Have fun in the wastes with your husband.

well,i can think of a particular gunslinging,hat wearing vampire hunter...anyone played Darkwatch,an Xbox game? the main protagonist,Jericho Cross looks A LOT like a witchhunter,only problem is..he is a vampire cowboy.

I think for the listed choices, its gotta be Van Helsing. No matter what movie or book you look at, he's the man. In 'Van Helsing' the movie, hes pretty much is a WH if you take away the interrogate and trial aspect. In Bram Stoker's classic, even though he's old and fat and eccentric, he basically outsmarts Dracula. Even in Dracula 2000, he kept himself alive over the years by filtering and injecting himself with Dracula's blood. In order to guard Drac's remains, he was willing to be a perma-senior. Thats dedication.

All jokes aside, no matter what anime or TV show or new novel comes out, Van Helsing is a legend and an archatype for most of the monster hunters on that poll. And while Ash is cool as hell, Helsing is the man. He always knows the weaknesses of his adversary and no matter how outmatched, he always has a counter measure or weapon or tactic or bit of knowledge that evens the odds. He's an icon.

Alucard is definately the "coolest" one -- Mostly because he's voiced by Nakata Jouji and can turn into a huge ing mass of giant demonic dog heads covered in eyeballs.

But Ash is the most kick-, and Father Alexander Anderson is the most psycho (Also because of his voice actor, whose name escapes me at the moment. He voiced Hojo in Last Order, too. Awesome. Perfect guy for the role)

I think that D is the best monster hunter that was ever created. He has strength, he has amazing special abilities, he has cool looks, he has the hat, and he is a relative of Count Dracula as the manga implied so far.

D is also a dhampir who believes that actions speak much louder than words, he the charisma of a true hero.

Google Vampire Hunter D if you don't know him, by far the best anime and manga hunter hero.
