View Full Version : Thrown weapons as ranged?

It was always a bit of a pet peeve of mine in that other MMO that the ranged physical damage dealing class (hunter) was unable to use any class features relating to ranged combat when using thrown weapons- only guns, bows, and xbows. I really hope that will be remedied in WAR- I'd really like to see a squig herder chucking spears, javelins, hatchets, or even nasty little barbed darts. It'd be nicely in keeping with the feel of the race and could be a lot of fun.

Don't quote me on this, but I seem to remember hearing something about throwing hammers. I think it's just a skill, and not something you equip, but still.

From what I've seen WAR more goes the other way, instead limiting class weapon selections more than other MMOs in favor of focused abilities, class flavor, and silhouetting.

The warrior priest gets hammers, and has a throw ability.

As for the herder, we do know they will have spears for melee, so we might see thrown spears as well, but I wouldn't count on it.

And no Gobbo can really throw a spear, deh the runts, so deh big greens are betta, with the bigga badda wepons.

i second this! lol. im having trouble deciding on choppa or b-orc. i love doing serious dmg but i love the look of the black orcs, and i don't know about you but i hate a stupid looking character, but the choppa looks pretty cool too lol.

I believe the GameSpy E3 WAR preview mentioned that he was throwing hammers with his Dwarf Hammerer.

I don't remember where I heard this, I could be mixing it with another game, but I thought every class had some kind of ranged ability. Because sometimes going hand-to-hand is not the best choice and so every class had something to pull with.
