Why hello there sub-forum!

Did this class get confirmed? If so, could I get a link?

I'm googling as fast as I can, and the google - she can't take much more, cap'n!

Notice the stickied thread above you, where it says:

Discussion of the Sorcerer career as a possible Dark Elf possability.

Hope that answered your question.

Dang it. I'm gonna see if I can find any evidence, then.

well it most likely is just do to the fact that mythic said they got the go ahead to make de sorcerer both male and female

This is excellent news, then!

Is there any indication in the IP of the sorcerer class being a healer of any sort?

I'm hoping and praying that Druchii somehow get a melee healer :P

In the traditional sense of a healer? No, not really. However, they could easily be made into a healer that's based on using lifetaps and such, I think.

The Dark Magic spell Soulstealer drains life from enemy units to the sorceress... So they could be made into healers via a similar mechanic.

The sorcerer class has been mentioned a fair few times by Mythic, would be kind of blind to suggest that it won't be playable.

Thats funny but he doesn't quite say they are a playable class at that point. However at 6:45 he blurbs out sorcerers.

P.S. Also confirmed no assassins.
edit: He says "witches and hags and sorcerers and swordplayers(?)"

So, since Garth is pretty certain of the sorc and shadow warrior classes, can we put them put under the list of main choice of character class in the profile? I need to see whp my potential shadow warrior victims are...

sounds like zealots were supposed to be like initially, but then got hybridized into a melee type

If in fact he did say "hags", then I may have a chance for the sorcerer to be a DD caster!

My guess is that the Sorceress (kick in lore's balls to make male ones) will be likely a primary damage dealer, and will be able to heal herself with her own dark magic. Perhaps in the form of periodic damage (DoTs like Drain Soul from WoW or.. Drain Life from WH :P) this is just how I see it. Waiting on Corsair confirmation though a sorceress is what I want to play.

People keep saying this.

The female-only "rule" is a fairly recent fluff addition, and the fluff goes on to specify that male sorcerers do exist but are simply looked down upon.

It's a kick in lore's balls to make male witch elves. Sorcerers really aren't that big a deal.

Very true. Healing witch elves would be much more of a kick in the balls of lore, much like players being able to call themselves Malekith. Male sorcerers are more like a slap.

Well, witch elves do kind of heal with the cauldron of blood in that it restores their youth, beauty, and vitality - it's the image of a healer as a passive and compassionate person caring for the wounded that doesn't fit.

Don't all dark eldar heal by draining souls in 40k or some such as well?

"Healing" in the traditional sense is ill-suited to any druchii and must be shoehorned in, the easiest method is the vampiric component already present in the Death and Dark winds used by sorcerers, and can be interpreted in a tertiary way for the witch elves through the power of Khaine.

First off:

Pointless argument. Even if you're right it's a different world AND a different race. Even if inspired by the same.

Also I guess I just don't see the restoration of their youth as healing. Or actually, my problem with that is that it's not really them doing the healing and it's definately not them doing the healing on the battleground. And to see a witch elf healing me before I get hurt..... I guess I wouldn't bother much!

Only kidding of course, my dear Hag. Albeit I'm afraid that those would be the only people who'd submit to a kick in the balls. And they'd enjoy it too.

Mind, I'm certain you'd have many more wonders beyond a kick in the balls for their kind. ;)

Blood and souls! And cheers too!

Wonder with the confirmation of a second male-only class whether we'll now get a second female-only class (i.e. Sorceress).

Personally, fingers crossed.

Estebar

with the confirmation of a second male-only class Eh? What's this? What's this? What confirmed second male-only class?

EDIT: Never mind. Got it.

Will Marauder characters be limited to male avatars? Thus far all the concept art depicts men.

Yes, Marauders will be limited to males only.
As to why: Throughout Warhammer’s history, Chaos has always been ‘male-based’. There have been female Chaos warriors, yet they are a rarity. When they say “Warhammer’s history’, they mean the actual army books; they are not talking about written novels or the like….but the actual Fantasy army books. The Army books are what have been used as a guideline in deciding what fits where and how. EA Mythic and Games Workshop are striving to keep Warhammer true to its roots.

My sorcerer in my CoS army is male, simply because it fits the theme, heresy in its own right! Fairly recent as of 6th yeah, as my model is the old male that used to be available. :P

It's a kick in lore's balls to make male witch elves. Sorcerers really aren't that big a deal.
That would be absurd! Much like tanking class Shades... here's to CoK!

I think the sorcerer(ess)s will be a neat part of the DE race. Corsairs, Shades/BG and CoK fo' sho!

Then what would you suggest as the support class? The only other ideas I've seen for it are Witch Elf and Beastmaster, both of which are big stretches in my mind. And it won't be beastmaster, since we now know that HE will get a pet class.

HE getting a pet class isn't the same thing as DE not getting one.

Garth deleted it once the first two classes were confirmed at Leipzig, and he put it back up again a couple of days ago (or longer, I haven't been paying much attention recently) as Sorceresses are still, pretty much, confirmed.

Garth did not delete it, it was a forum bug, and it just got fixed. I think it came back today too, I don't remember it yesterday. And sorcs aren't "confirmed", but if you ask anyone with any idea of the lore what the last two classes are, 90%+ will say Sorc as either ranged dps or support.

Indeed they are not, hence my use of the words "pretty much".

Frankly I'd put it at higher than 90% too.

Hell, when the initial 6 races were anounced I'd have put Sorceresses at the top of the possible units list, and have them way ahead of whoever would have been in second place. They've been by far and away the most obvious and most likely class in the entire game.

The thing people don't agree on however is: in what archetype. ;)

Anyway, good to see the sub forum is back.

If the sorceress is in and they are not healer, then all the shade lovers will /wrist and we shall have lots of blood for our Khainite rituals as we herald the coming of our new Acolyte overlords.

I personally welcome our Acolyte overlords. MELEE/HEALER FTW!!!!. xD Or if the Sorceress is a Melee Healer then I'm find with whatever, I just want my damn melee/healer.
