Hey guys, I've been reading these boards for a while now and finally decided to register and post. I am currently playing WoW (I know, I know) and really can't stand it anymore. I am really looking forward to making a Choppa, but I'm just curious...is everyone else dieing to play this game like I am? What makes it worse is that not only does the Choppa look cool, but every class in the game so far looks amazing lol.
Idk, I wish I would stop getting myself so excited for this game, It's many months away:(
So please respond back and let me know that I'm not the only one losing sleep over this game!:)

I'm definatly anticipating it in exitement, but I can control myself. I never "drool" over anything, so to speak.

Bah! WoW was fun until you reached 40 and then the gameplay became to repetitive! ...and then the community was the only thing that kept me going on it for more than a year before I realised how lame the lore was...
...but the fact that I check this forum more than 5 times a day, and how I'm logged on here for more than an hour most days of the week, kinda proves that I'm dying myself... but the fact that I've probably searched down every guide, video, interview, or press release about this game proves I really should try to restrain myself.

I made pretty much the same post in the spring of 2006, I had heard enough at that point from the newsletters and a PC gamer article that I was frustrated enough with WoW, waiting for a new game that I was convinced I would love, and didn't know what to do. I quit wow, played DDO, then went back to CoH very very briefly, played through HL2 and episode one, back to CS, bought Company of Heroes, played Mark of Chaos..Then went back to WoW.. I have left WoW again since, and keep trying other games, but nothing keeps me entertained for long term.. I tried Lotro, and bought it after the beta despite not really liking it a whole lot.. (same thing i did with DDO.) I am playing C&C 3 right now, with a few friends.. but it's not going to last..
I think the big thing for me is the features that WAR seems to be really focused on are the ones that I felt were left out from other games I played. Regardless, I am stuck just not satisfied with anything when such a great game is sitting just on the horizon..

And my WoW account was just banned for no good reason, so I am stuck atm. Already have C&C3, maybe I will go back to Gears of War...

Amen to that. I have not had a game hold my attention for longer than 4 months, the top dog being Vanguard in the past few years. I hope WAR will be good, but I am trying to keep my hopes down.
Hope to me, is something that can only make the end result worse. It might be a good thing to have, while you are waiting for the result, but the more hope you had before the result, the worse you are when it happens.
It is like having a movie (or game) hyped up beyond belief. Then when you go see it/rent it/buy it, it is built up so much in your mind, it just doesn't live up to expectation. That is one thing I think companies need to look at. They hype up these games SOOOO MUCH, and in the end they can't possibly deliver on what they promised.
Like hearing Paul talk about the public quests ... then when you actually see the video, you are like "what garbage", the animations were piss poor and choppy. I sure hope the rest of the game can live up to the hype, but the track record isn't the best so far for companies that have done the same thing. I don't think gaming companies realize the imagination is such a powerful thing, and when you talk about some things in vivid detail, you can't possibly design it in an MMO and have it work in any, way, shape or form even close to the capacity a mind could create it.
When Paul talked about Helga blowing away a whole mountain side, with all the sound effects and everything, it sounded amazing. In the video, it looks like a few small, pitter-patter shots hit a suspiciously unstable looking pile of snow on a mountain. 2 seconds after the explosions, it collapeses on the base. It was not nearly as dramatic as he made it sound.
And the Giant blowing the dwarven gates open. He doesn't "bowl" it down the bride and "blow the gates open". He walked up, there is an explosion, he disappears, there is no structural damage and dwarves appear out of thin air and walk to engage the players ... not nearly as dramatic as the picture he painted in my mind at least.
Anyways, enough ranting, but that is one reason I am not trying to up-play this game too much. I am sure if I continue, I will only be let down. Just my 2 cents.

My WoW account just got banned, too. The whole PvE end-game stuff was becoming so repetitive just killing the same bosses and wiping on others. I was at first thinking about rebuying the game, but I decided to just wait for WAR to come out. I've probably checked out every video about the game in the past week.

WoW was fun until level 10 and the gameplay became repetitive. Really, the only decent bit was the overpopulation and what it did for the RP.

I LOVED WoW's PvE after BC. Most of Kharazan as well as Mulgor were so incredibly designed, I loved it. But I come from a pretty hardcore planetside, UO background and I need largescale PvP to keep me happy.

"WoW was fun, then I hit level 70"
That is so true!
There is pgm contents for lvl 70 in wow, BlackTemple, Hyjal, The eye, you are just impatient and you think to jump in WAR will be replacing WoW but that's wrong, both are really goods but you will need time to appriciate WoW, very lots of time, my guild is on the way to reach this instances and I can't let you say there is nothing to do in WoW at lvl 70 (nor you are from nihilum, forte, etc wich I really doubt) but I really care to get Warhammer because on PVP side no doubt this will be different than any other mmorpg outta there and very good addition to wow.
"WoW was fun" that make me laugh, I'd like to see your gear from the wow armory website to laugh much.
I'm dying too would want to play this game right now so bad!!!

I played World of WarCraft for long time, I might go back to it. Most likely ill preorder this game.. but i dont like the sound of leveling system. Looking forward to it none the less.
Do'h the next 6 months are going to be a kind of torture for waiting this game. It's actually a good thing that school starts so time will pass more quikly and will get something else to think about. Atleast the last Autumn went quite fast hope this one will too :D. The last Autumn was pretty much over before I realised that :).

So you would laugh at him because he prolly doesn't have the time farming endlessy to get good gear ? GG if you think that the only way to have fun in world of FARMcraft is with good gear. It's the exact reason why i'm looking forward to WAR is because i'm tired paying for a game that feels like a job (SSC run #250, waiting to finally roll on my nordrassil token) and having ppl like you that judge players only by their equipement.

I completely agree. After he mocked the guy's statement about how WoW was fun, and hinted that he couldn't possiblely had any fun without having the best gear, you can see the stupid mentality that that game has generated. That is the biggest fault for WoW is the equipment grind. I only played wow for 6 months or so, but I have great gear, not the best, but great. All merciless pvp gear for arena, and nothing left for me to do in pvp. Only thing is grind some more in gruul's and higher which is just a pain in the for PvE gear. At least Kara was fun for the short time it took to get everything I wanted from it. Thats why I canceled my account last week.
I played DAoC for four years, and never did I feel like there was nothing to do. In WoW, nothing unless I rolled an alt(which I hardly ever do, even after four years, only had three guys) My need for pvp is too great, only six more months.

I salute you dahon. You speak the truth :p
But all this waiting will be worth it. Seeing the monthly news letter, Vid of the month, podcast update and such just make the wait seem like it will definately be worth it.
And sure if you want go and play WoW until WAR comes out, do what ever you want; You're entitled to do what ever you want and dont let anybody stop you (unless you're going to do people harm).
I myself get payed out enough about being able to do sports related things that only me and 1 other person in my entire high school can do. Which is rather odd that people pay you out about being to do something abnormally cool but it still doesnt stop me.
And if people want to pay you out about playing wow or sayign that it WAS fun, screw 'em. just ignore them and do as you please
Peace

after MTing for my guild and burning out due to the Grind, I started pvping full time untill I had the best pvp gear possible, and now even that is so boring I dont even log on anymore. The game had its moments but myself and a lot of other hardcore pvpers are fed up and need somthing better.

Playing WoW makes real orc fans cry inside (or outside?). Seriously though, they have been reduced to the same strength of GNOMES! In my eyes Warcraft is dead to me.
The Choppa is an orc class worth playing. Finally orc without weakness and corruptibility; just beasts of pure brutality, cunning, craziness, that are uncontrollable by any daemon or being.

Eh, I just hope WAR doesn't have as much repetitive grinding :(
As far as warhammer, every contest that shows up i enter, and i check my mail and beta account to see if i got in way too often :P
The only bad side with being this obsessed is, checking all the different war sites every day looking for new videos or information only to have nothing new :(

Yeah, WoW should almost just not be a topic of any conversation. The game was cool when it came out because it was new, and different and got people that didnt really like RPG's to play them. But after a while you just go......wow they could really do a lot better. Also i would have to say when you make a game and have a failry loyal community of over 8.5 mill. you should maybe not drop a $40 Expansion that takes 3yrs thats not really all that great, throws in races that dont REALLY matter, and then soon after that make them pay another $40 for one a little less than a year later with crap that should have been in the first to begin with.
whew sorry i been wanting to say some of that crap for a while.....anyway to answer the original question. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! I'm getting more excited about this game from just info and screenshots/gameplay vids here and there, than i have about any other game. It seems this game is going to be done right, and its great to finally see that. The Warhammer world is an amazing place to do this, ever since DOW i was wanting an MMO of the world Fantasy or Sci-fi. The Fantasy world is way more interesting to me so ROCK ON! Its going to be great, cant wait!:D:D:D
WoW was a good game for... like the first year or something. When Onyxia was still exciting and mystical... and above all dangerous. Lol. Before I quit the game I 4-manned her... The game has shifted focus and is now all one long grind.
I am now stuck playing UT2004. It is quite fun, refreshing to do some "pvp" (lol). But I really can't wait for WAR and hope some new info is coming soon.

Wow is still an amazing game. The game is still good and BC (imo) made it better. However it is still, by and large a PvE game which requires amazingly large time sinks in reputations at this time and it does not feel to be reroll friendly in the least. While I expect certain similar things in war (time sink required to an extent) I do expect it to be more fun in casual play with more fighting and ability to participate in something meaningful (public quests) without spending at least 2 hours.
