Soooo from the looks of how many posts there are in this forum compared to the others... i assume there isn't going to be many engineers? I am interested in playing a slighty less used class...

disscuss...

I'd have to disagree with that.

I. Because engineers have grenades
II. I myself may be playing an engineer
II. My sister is going to be playing an engineer.

I only?
I and II only?
II and III only?
I, II, and III?

If you want to play a slightly less used class, you'll be plesently suprised if you jump onto... oh... about any class in the Dwarf throng!

These forums are not a very good indication of class popularity or strengths. I anticipate the Dwarf Engineer to be one of the more popular classes based upon polling, but even that is a flawed assessment of class breakdown.

The engineers looked really cool in Baltimore Gamesday. :-)

Should be very popular, it has what many men want :)

1. Big Guns

2. A Big Strong Dwarf, screaming for blood and looking for a good battle, What race is more Stronger, Braver, and is more male like

3. One hell of a heavy drinker

4. Seems to be able to Build stuff to( Bob the Builder anyone)

Course If you are going for good looks or a female( If I was a female not sure I could stand looking at a dwarf for many year) I doubt a dwarf in general is what you really want.

I think engineers will be the most popular class in the least popular realm if that helps.

I think the Dwarf Engineers Focused Fire animation in the B-more Games Day video was sexy hot!

If its true it just means we'll be a lowly populated and original class, with loads of potential for comedy and expanding. I can't see a problem :P Having thousands of the same class packing up an area is often a problem in multiple MMO's. If it means were the only ones with any originality and discernible variations (along with our fellow Dwarven brothers naturally) then so be it.

It was really hard for me to decide to be a Warrior-Priest.
I know my 2nd class will be Engineer or Runepriest. Dawi has it going on!

I'd be very suprised indeed if the engineer doesn't turn out to be a somewhat popular class among Dwarfs.

Based on populations from other MMO's, I predict the runepriest to be the least popular class among Dwarfs (just as shaman will be for greenskins, zealot for chaos, etc). The reason for this is simply that less people enjoy playing support classes.

Granted, statements from the devs indicate that they're taking a slightly different design perspective on their support classes ("everyone fights!"), but still, they'll have that healer-y feel to them, and thus end up being less popular, I believe.

But time will tell.

Popularity for Dwarf Classes right now, id say is

Ironbreaker
Engineer
Rune Priest
Hammerer

in that order of course, while for the dwarf enemy the greensins, it looks like

Choppa
Squig Herder
Shaman
Black Orc

Surprising isnt it?

I am currently debating a hammerer or engineer as my first character, but I am an altaholic so will have lots hehe.:D

I think engineers are going to end up being pretty popular. Folks like making things go boom.

My first alt is probably going to be an engineer.

It's all about the Bang Stuntie. Come on he has a Nitroglycerine Grenade! Personally, I think it will be very entertaining maintaining some range while blowing things up. After the Engineer I'll be headed to Squig Herder or Witch Hunter.

Cheers, Kerevsi

Gandalf didn't shoot fireballs.... :-/

This may be a little off topic but he did in the hobbit :3

and I'm making an engineer as my first alt, I seem magnetically attracted to classes that dont need to carry around a tinder box, perhaps this is worth a quick visit to the psychiatrist?

Played Runescape hey? I must beg yer forgivness for the foul name of this phlegm worthy excuse for an MMO, that even an Elf and a Gobbo with a pint o' bugmans finest down there necks wouldn't believe is good. Not that I'd waste our rare Golden brew on those scum.

What really annoys me...that people are flocking to the Engineers for the PEW PEW factor...and when i see these fanbois, friendly fire will the least of their worries

Oh my, I thought I would never have to travel that dark road again, please dont remind me

I certainly was not making reference to that abomination!

Its just that I would never see the need (fluffwise) for a bright wizard to ever fumble about with flint and tinder when he could just pluck a fireball out of mid air and FWOOM!

hmm, i need to cook this RAT MEAT and i have used my BRONZE AXE to get logs...now wheres my flint and tinder?

*dude, you can summon fire!*

Yes, but its against regulations to use the magic in a non violent fashion

WAR is THE worst game for (indecisive) people like me :D I always played the order side before now, so I wanted to play destruction this time... but the Dwarf Engineer kept calling to me. Also, I always played caster before now, so I was going to do melee this time... but the ENGINEER kept calling to me and he is ranged like a caster-but-not!.

The engineer can make stuff (I like that, I am engineer in RL) He can kill at range (like a caster but he's not) and can melee in close (so he is not too squishy like a caster would be)

I don't know... the engineer seems a good all-rounder. Able to kill at range, but also able to defend himself in close quarter fights. He explosives give him an AOE, and his rapid fire guns give him range too. Then he has hammers for close in.

Yes, the engineer attracted me to. Once I saw a RvR video of it and fully read the description it pulled me away from the Chaos Chosen. I am still probably still having a Chaos Chosen as an Alt but the Engineers fire power cannot be ignored.:D

The only problem I see is that Destruction will outnumber Order and the Greenskins outnumber the Dwarfs.:(

We rawk even more because we're ranged fighters and can run away when we're about to get ganked. xD

In every MMO I have played I've rolled a range fighter and usually more than one. I've read the post "Engineers 101" and I'm sold - hook, line, and sinker.

The fun challenge setting mines at points where they'll do optimal damage and chosing the proper sequence of debuff and damage shots.

Problem? Outnumbered means more kills for you! More the merrier. What i cant wait for, is a bunch of engineers to lay a mine in one spot, or allyway. little greenskin comes along and BOOOM straight to the moon.

I really like what I've seen of the engineer so far and am considering one as my main

I'm kind of tired of playing the generic paladin/warrior/fighter classes and this class looks like it could be a lot of fun.

The dwarf areas are also looking good from what I've seen in the few screenshots and videos.

Well if there aren't many Engineers then that means not many people will know how to deal with us. We will be as much mysterious as we are deadly. Also the WAR engineers are much more interesting than the side crafting job you get with WoW.

Ill probably choose an Engineer for my Dwarf if i choose to be a Dwarf. Just cause for some reason ill take satisfaction that i get to shoot guns and stuff.

Also from an economics stand point if you have to buy class related things from an AH or something its cheaper.

Supplie and Demand and what not.

Engineers sound very versatile. They definitely aren't a one trick pony. I am looking forward to trying them out too!

I think the engineers look awesome and will probably be my first alt. Only reason it wouldn't be my main is that I just can't bring myself to play order, atleast not at first. If MMOs have taught me anything, it seems that many of the younger player base tend to play human and elf races a lot...poor dwarfs :(. I know it's a stereotype, but lets be honest here, it's a fairly accurate one.

Either way, ranger/hunter style classes will always be played, it's a popular playstyle. Grenades just make engineers so much cooler than your typical ranged dps.

If I choose order for my alt, engineer it is.
