Seems like Mythic has decided to take a new approach on Empire structures, particularly the Bright Wizard College.

In the original GW lore, the college is hidden from the common populace for many reasons.

The Bright College, along with the majority of the Colleges of Magic, are located within the Empire captial city of Altdorf. The Bright College is located in a part of the city that burned down in a city fire years ago. Although the fire happened so long ago, the ruins still smolder as though the flames had just been put out. Like many of the Colleges, the Bright College is magically hidden from the eyes of the common citizens of the Empire. Although normally invisible, on hot summer days the College may appear in the heat haze. The College itself is made of red stone, and consists of a number of towers surrounding inner courtyards. These towers are topped with ever-burning fires fed by the power of Aqshy.

In the recent podcast, The Bright Wizard College (http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/media/flash/WAR-pp_2007-07_painting.html) can be seen by everyone as a towering foundry that is located probably somewhere in the farther corner of Altdorf.

My opinion is that even though the feeling and magic of the College has somewhat diminished because of this decision, it nevertheless represents the burning nature of the men and women who practice Fire magic.

I think it looks great, I wonder if they'll acutaly stick it in a burned part of the city?

I watched that video and I think the buildings behind the foundry can be easily the remains of some kind of houses, with are burnt down by the enormous power of the bright wizards. And I don't think so that there is a burnt down district in somewhere Altdorf. But I'm not quite familiar in the lore, this is only my opinon :)

So the bright college is now the thing that represents Altdorf.. Not the Imperial Palace or that its the home of the Emperor...

How are they going to explain that the bright college is now visible. But the other 6 colleges located in the city are not?. The Amber Order is the only Order without buildings in Altdorf.

The Colleges arn't visable to an average citizen of the empire/ and probably the rival schools followers, this excludes everyone else that has some sort of rank/status/mastery of magic to some degree.

There I just gave a reasonable explanantion.

Oh yeah and THERE IS certain conditions that reveal the places for moments, or the whole day. cept for the ones that don't have their own college instead they do things differently.

The simplest solution to why the Bright College is no longer invisible is to simply say, perhaps, that when the Bright Order decided to publicly join the Order of the Griffon in WAR, they chose to drop there illusionary barrier to make themselves more accessible to the rest of the Order. The other Colleges aren't part of the Order, so they're still maintaining there own defenses.

Granted, it doesn't explain why the Bright Wizards can't see the other Colleges (as if you have mage abilities, you can see through at least some of the defenses), but it's good enough.

Well, I'm sort of hoping that only Bright Wizards will be able to go into the college. Maybe it will indeed be invisble to all other careers, or perhaps just appear abandoned and dead, ie. no fiery spiffy effects or such, just a dark and dirty tower.

Anyhoo, this place is something I'm looking forward to seeing when it's done. And I'll probably be spending a lot of time there, once I get around to playing a Bright Wizard.

Who says it isn't still hidden from the common populace (including non-spellcasters)?

Had you expected a screenshot or a video showing an invisible building with the sub-title: Can only be seen by Bright Wizards? :p ;)

Just wait and see, maybe you won't be able to see it at all if you're lucky.

My bet for the rationale is, since we are the elite defenders of the Empire, and Bright Wizards are such a big part of the elite group (Order of the Gryphon, right?), that we were allowed to see it in case we need to go there to contact the Wizards for whatever reason. I'm sure they'll word it a lot better if I'm right, but I'm betting that will be the general idea.

Indeed. It says that it is hidden from the eyes of the ordinary citizens. Even if you consider the military common citizens, they possibly make exceptions for the higher ranking soldiers of the army, etc.

That's the kicker right there. It says common citizen. The players in WAR are anything but that.
Receiving their orders directly from the Emperor, the leaders of this new regiment will act as an extension of his will and authority, free to take any action necessary to protect the Empire from threats of any kind. Also, the regiment will serve as a proud example of the glory of the Empire and its ruler, meting out swift justice to those who would betray their countrymen or abandon their duties in these desperate and dangerous times. The situation is dire and the Emperor knows that without help, Nordland will soon fall and the enemy will have a clear path to the very heart of the Empire. In a council with his chief advisors, Karl Franz devises the Order of the Griffon, an elite military force answerable only to the Emperor himself, with an authority that supersedes that of the Elector Counts and their provincial generals. Freed from these bureaucratic constraints, the Order will take swift action to unify all defensive measures being engineered in the north.

Empire players are top dogs.
