I highly hope that engineers don't have the damning problem of having to buy shed loads of ammunition. Focused fire, that shot out at least 6 bullets. Doing that every time in a fight, plus the other abilities? Bloody hell, it'll use a lot if it fires fast. Anyone else who's playing an engineer (or a squig herder) have opinions there?

I hope we do not run out of ammo, but if we did to make it fair other weapons should cost to use as well like say after useing a sword for x ammount of times it needs repairing if your going to use it again. And magical weapons run out of charge after a while and you have to get them recharged etc. I really hope rifles/pistols and bows etc don't run out of ammo because then it would be more expensive to play the classes that use them than the others.

Not really.. In many mmos all classes have to spend money on something.

ex.
Tanks (or classes with heavy armor): Huge repair costs.
Casters: Regents for some special spells or water/pots for mana (no mana in this game tho.)
ranged dps (non-casters): bullets/arrows
other melee classes: regents for abilities.

In some games this is necessary to balance the economy.

But I do hope that war can handle the economy without this because it sucks when you're out of regents in the middle of a fight.

From what I have heard from people who have actually played at various Gamesdays, they did not use any ammo while playing the enginner. This might change before release, cause we've got a long way to go. But keep in mind, every class usually spends money on something specific, or in general, but moreso than others. That's almost always the way it is.

I don't think theres any ammo. We make Grenades out of AP, so I would be in the belief Ammo is treat the same. If we do have to buy ammo on the' other hand, I'm not complaining, as in teh' way I'm going about seeing it, it just means different types o' ammo to buy, explosive, accuracy, EOT etc etc... Either way, I see Mythic making any decision on the basis on entertainment factor.

I personally don't want ammo, but I'm not going to be outraged if it is in the game. It make s sense to have ammo, but it is going to be annoying running out all the time.

seeing as how this game is based around PvP and not PvE, buying ammo would be a huge pain, running in a pvp area, then running out to get mroe ammo, ew.

How about makin' yer ammo through yer AP? Like tha' bloody grenades? A bit o' AP, and ye' have yerself a Orc pulverizing round of shells and bullets!

Yes, because those games need a timedump in the form of farming money for ammo.
That one word suggests that it wont be the case in WAR.

If we take a look at what else Mythic have done we will, as usual, find DAoC in which archer-classes had an option to get free (low-quality) ammo from their trainer, or buy 1 of 3 arrow-types (for their lvl, was different variations the higher lvl u got, but each variation had 3 types) designed for the thickness of your target's armor. For example you'd use a very blunt arrow-head against a clothie (still going straight through the 2 layers of silk and paper, and making a larger hole in the person) while something sharper would be required against chain mail and plate.
It was a good system.

I assume it might be something like "You have normal quality ammo that will last you to the end of the world. You buy high quality ammo, also lasting you to the end of the world."
It might be that you have to purchase ammo types, not rounds themselves. Personally, thats what I'm hoping for (my two main characters are going to be a squig hunter and an engineer. I know, sounds dumb, but i'll try to have them on opposing realms/servers.) Anyways, ammo types could have bonus effects like extra damage, turning damage into another form e.g. fire, maybe crippling (doubt it).

Edit: spelling.

From what I've seen of the Goblin Squig Herder, there own attacks (not those of the squig) seem a little lack luster, and would benefit highly from having some speciality arrow types, to choose from. Such as blinding, making it harder to accurately hit targets. I can't say the same goes for Engineers, as it looks like there going to be clearing a path of veggies all the way back to Altdorf from the off, still it might be worth looking into for mythic, seeing as it would be done in the real WF, Goblins poisoning arrows and such.

Shoot
Action Points: 50
Range: 30-100 ft
Basic bow attack.

Poisoned Arrer
Action Points: 130
Range: 30-100 ft
Bow attack that inflicts additional damage for 5 seconds.

Paralyzing Arrer
Action Points: 60
Range: 30-100 ft
Bow attack that Roots your target, making them unable to move for 5 seconds.

All can be easily countered, so there going to be needing something with more grunt.

i really hope neither class has to deal with ammo its such a hassel i mean lets be honest... not all mmorpgs but some ammo takes up srsly 1/2 your inventory? its rediculas on top of that its one thing if a caster forgets his artifact to cast group buff u can live without but a herder or eng would have to go melee without their ammo, if ammo stacks rediculasly high to the point u dont even really need it theres no point but if it stacks too lil it will be highly annoying... its a tough balance id rather c NO ammo personally and we just worry about traps and grenades
