Looking at getting into Warhammer mini gaming after a 20 year hiatus.

Im deciding between the following:
Tomb Kings
Bretonnia

of those 2, which is the easiest for a beginner to master and which is the considered the strongest (at 1000 points)?

thanks.

1k is pretty low for any fantasy army and probably not to great for either army. both books are kind of old too TK i would expect to see a update within 2 years if not next year.

brets i've heard mix things about they are good but can be boring too. they are pretty much all about the knights with their lance formation. i think you must actually take knights of the realm. peasant guys are pretty bad although i have seen the archers used. you MUST take a paladin with BSB IIRC. Can pray to automatically allow opponent to choose first turn but you get a ward save. at least with all cav you're model count will proably be very low.

tomb kings good magic since it auto casts and no threat to miscast. you just throw dice to see what your opponent needs to dispell. undead are generally weak but have a few good units. i actually prefer VC but thats me.

Bretonnia are far easier than tomb kings. In fact, TK are one of the hardest armies to master, requiring perfected magical movements and flank attacks.

Bretonnians are brilliant for starters however. You have basic archers (who are still rather good), some average infantry and your mega knights. And their simple. You basically have to get the charge in. Thats all.

No one is stronger than the other, eaiser yes.

Brets are easier to play and pick up, the standard Bret armies are "Point at the enemy and charge". Very boring though and you can end up relying on the same thing over and over so if you come up across someone who knows that they will be able to beat you back, okay it will be bloody hard for them but they will be able to.
Then there are the very rare Peasantry armies, full of the lower rungs and basic Bret choices backed up by a couple/few reigments of Knights.

Some armies develop better at low points games. TK tend to be a bit small at 1000 point games. They are a monster/horde army but with the required 2 characters for TK you just don't have the points left over to get your undead units up to a good size and still have points for a few big creatures.
They aren't bad at 1000 points, but they start looking a lot better in the 1500-2000 point range.

Bretonnians will not have a lot of models at 1000 points, but they will still be able to do their thing.

The fear and autobreaking of the TK makes them more of a challenge for newer opponents, against more experienced players though they will know how to handle it better. The Bretonnians are probably an easier choice against a wider range of player skill. Some of it will come down to what sort of armies you are playing against too.
