So Black Orcs get larger each rank, I heard Chosen will get like markings and cooler designs on their armor and stuff. So my question is, what do Marauders get? I take it we "unlock" more mutations as we level up but is that our "get larger/get cool markings" or do we get something else.

(Im guessing we just start to look more sick, twisted, and chaosy(hooks in our flesh holding up armor straps like in that concept art picture.)

Armor change is different.. Marauders get more arm mutations as the advance in levels.

Those are just new skills, it's diffrent. If thats all it was, you could easily hide it by not mutating until ya need it, or using a low level mutation to fool people. Directly against WYSIWYG.

And gameplay trumps all. If it isn't fun then people will not pay to play.
Anyone who sees a two hand having Marauder and doesn't get ready for some sneaky, underhanded attack (which is trademark Tzeentch) deserves to spend the rest of their days as armor ornament.

Spawns are out of question... Cheesecake. But I could swear I've once heard mutations will happen randomly and each Marauder could have different mutations at the same levels. It's not a toggle which most people think it is, according to the vid. You just get a mutation which makes you stronger. They said all mutations help your character to become more powerful.
But I'm sure mutations are not a thing you put on and off with a mouse-click that just goes way against the lore. If you get mutated, nonetheless what it is, you'll love it (in character-terms). By toggling it 'off', then you would indeed turn in a spawn, because you didn't appreciate Tzeentch's 'gifts' as much as he'd like. Allthough turning into a Spawn isn't in the game (as far as I know).

But I'm not 100% sure, but I believe I heard this kind of things fall once in an interview.

Well, we'd have to wait untill retail to be sure.

No, but Mythic have been following WYSIWYG, or shadowing or something as they seem to call it.

Basically the idea that you should be able to see a figure in the distance and go "oh look its a chosen".


I hope marauders have the option to get more mutations as they level up. I want a poisitively freaky looking marauder at rank 40. I should be able to mutate my left leg into a turkey baster.

Ok what I heard was that the mutations does not only change in lvl but also in area... not only that in that same vid they said that there was a chance for both arms to mutate.

What about weapons tho? If you arm mutates while you are holding a weapon and your inventory is full what happens? Well.. I guess your weapon would just increase the damage like normal. It think it would be cool if your weapon type effected the mutation.

So... I guess no one knows yet how mutations really will work. I assume it would have to be semi-perminant at some points because if its random and toggeled on and off people will just keep toggling it until they get the right one or at a certain level will it randomly change? But then people wouldnt like that because they couldn't control their character.

I really want to see how they do these mutations.

You get more crab claws. Crab Claws are attained at 1 per 4 levels until you have 10 of them.

Lol. I was talking about the guy who uses his bones to fight. That beast with the tail and the drill arm is what he mutates into in the end.

I dont see a huge reason why marauders shouldnt gorw in size as they level at least a bit, to represent more and more chaos power going thorugh them.

In comparison to tier 1 concept art, tier 4 seems to be... Less bald. That's all I notice.

tier 2 to 3 - a bigger bearder with either spikes or bird beaks, mid armor
tier 3 to 4 - a much bigger beard , heavier armor

This is all by going looking at all the pictures. I have no idea if the blacker eyes and beard are apart of character creation.

The eyes might be, but beards will probably just be selected from the start.

He means since the mutations seems to get bigger and bigger, they probably get heavier and more awkward, with one side much heavier than the other. So heres to hoping for HUGE one-handed weapons to counteract that :)

I think we all sub conciously know that maurders dont need to change as they level, it will just be understood that they change enough already, but still i thrive that my beard will one day engulf my armor and turn into a chaosy fur armor.

I haven't seen any mutations yet that could be classified as being tzeentch related, they all seem pretty "chaos undivided" to me.

Chaos and Empire get cooler armor.

Problem with that is that EVERY race/career will get cooler armor as they progress... It's just how it is.. You start off in rusty/tattered armor and you end up in shiny, elaborate, spikey armor.

Every one will have that, not just Chaos.

From the looks of it the marauders bare mutation shoulder naturally starts to turn into armor, either that or they increase in size, more detailed armor is what all classes get.

You notice one with all Chaos classes: as you level/gear up you become less and less recognizable as a human. If you compare even the T3 to the T4 pics from pooter you notice the visibility of the face and more and more of the skin goes away. Same thing goes with the Zealot, at T4 their face is shrouded in shadow under their hoods. Basically they aren't that human anymore and you don't want to get a good look at that messed up face anymore. And the obvious, the armor you have looks way cooler.

Indeed, its the same with the Chosen and Magus, as they rank up they will also lose they humanity, Chosen have to stick more plates on there armor to stop there bodies from falling apart, and Magus cover there heads in the end and get some nice looking armor.

Marauders it seems will get bigger muscles, fluffier beards with bird skulls in them, more armor plates thrown on, bigger and meaner looking helmets, and the mutations will look deadlier, we have a hell of a lot that is going to distinguish tier 4 marauders from Tier 1.

Thats all true, but there is a difference to what I am talking about. All classes are going to look different than their rank 1 form we all know that, because of gear and such, but im saying that just like the orcs grow, the marauders shoulder will slowly mutate, seperate from the normal mutations they already have.

Imagine if he did not have a saw arm but still had that mutated shoulder because it sorta matches the armor. Every level their shoulder mutates more RAWRAWR.

Yeah that would be cool, but instead of the weapon disappearing/ going back to inventory how about it gets "melted" (for want of a better word) into your arm?!

That would be awesome, kinda like the sword arm on the new Chaos possessed Space marine models

Yeah I've been wondering what happens to the weapons we wield...

If I get an awesome 1 handed sword from raiding the enemy city and then it just disappears when I mutate, that's kind of meh.

From the videos I've been seeing lately though...the Marauder can only mutate one arm and the other is the weapon carrying arm. Is this how it's going to be?

According to the official description on the site, yes, that is how it will be. We wield weapons in our main(right) hand, and we are gifted with mutations on our off(left) hand.

If you compare those two marauders beating the crap out of the dummy in the marauder video(the small one with no mutations and the one with mutations) you can cleary see that the marauder with the mutation is way, way bigger. That must mean only one thing, marauders just like orcs get bigger and more muscular.

I like that feature; growing larger as you level. As a level 1 it will be awe inspiring to see the much better armored, larger characters. I imagine the NPCs are all larger than you at first too. Then after you hit 40 you can go back and say, "Hey. I'm as big as you now!"

Amazing. Mythic is truly being innovative in many ways with this MMO. I fear the hype is killing me.

Maybe adding some afk animations after reaching certain level like shapes moving under skin, screaming faces forming on mutated body parts, whispers and bird calls coming from random speaker would make the favor of Tzeentch more noticeable. ;)

The smaller Marauder is an NPC. The NPC model looks just like the regular Empire model whilst the PC Marauder model seems to use the same one as the Chosen.
