Hey folks,

So after playing WAR for the last few weeks, i've become quite interested in the lore and i'd like to read a few Warhammer fantasy books. In game i play a High Elf Archmage, so i'd like to read something based on the High Elves if possible. So does anyone have any recommendations on where i should start?

Thanks in advance,
Link

GOTREK AND FELIX :: THE FIRST OMNIBUS

Probably the best place to start for any new reader, and one of the more popular books.
Classic hero adventure, and the books cover a lot of the Warhammer fantasy world.

I went for the Chronicles of Malus Darkblade, Volume 1 first and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm probably going to read Blackhearts the Omnibus when I finish a number of other non-Warhammer books I'm currently reading.

Witchhunter trilogy: Witch Hunter, Witch Finder & Witch killer. That book was, what pretty much started me on playing WH in first a place. I didnt read a lot from warhammer fantasy, I am more of 40k fan in books. But if You like your WH, You will like reading about Mathias Thulmann=)

If you want to read about high elves, I suggest:

Liber chaotica: slaanesh
tainted heart by nathan long

Defenders of ulthuan by Graham mcneill is okeyish, supposedly as i haven't read it myself

Giantslayer by william king, not very good.

Edit: Oh i suppose Realms of sorcery contains some about elves as well.

If you want a general look into different cultures of the warhammer world through the eyes of black library I could suggest Invasion!

It's a gathering of short stories including several different races. High elves are also included in three stories with two of them having high elf POV.

Malekith by Gav Thorpe beats them all (probably the best fantasy book from BL I've read). What's more, elves worshipping Slaanesh are no longer canon.

Make sure you avoid Gilead's Blood though. It may be about a high elf, but it's so bad...

What, and again what?

Where do you get this?

7th (current) edition DE Army Book for WFB. Not a word about Slaanesh, Druchii now worshipped Cytharaid, gods of the Underworld, dark side of elven panteon. There was an interview with Gav Thorpe (somewhere on Druchii.net I believe) and he confirmed that. It may be a big change in lore, but after reading Malekith it all seems much better. Much more elf-like.

If you dig on roleplay sourcebooks I highly recommend those for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. They are well written and give great fluff for the Old World.

Much of this stuff can be found on Ebay, on Amazon, etc.

I am currently reading this and it is well worth it. Mathuis is "ruthless" and very driven towards acting on behalf and belief of Sigmar and not letting anyone or thing get in his way :-).

I personally read the Black Hearts Omnibus and the Gortrek and Felix omnibus's too. They were fairly good and went through the Warhammer world. Currently working on The Malus Darkblade Omnibus and it is extremely well written so far.

Just recently purchased Traitor General (Yeah I know War 40K) but I'd love to read some books about the Greenskins.

Bascially the best place to start on any lore search in warhammer, is your respective race books. W/e you looking for Elf, chaos, human, dwarf, etc they have a book specially tailored to them. Once you read that I would suggest finding books at the black library. If you want to brush up on the Empire read the new book about sigmar that just came out. For Dark elf fans a malekith book should be out and about now. Theres plenty of books to read on EVERYTHING. You should simply start with your race specific codex, then go to Blacklibrary.com and find any books you find interesting or appropriate for your search and done lore gaining achieved.
