So the pessimist in me is thinking that they'll do what the did for Empire/Chaos, and only reveal the first 2 Careers, and leave us hanging on the others. Assuming they do this (I hope not), which 2 would you like to see?

Melee DPS and Tank gets my vote. Those seem to be the most contested, obviously moreso in the Melee DPS slot. But they'll probably reveal the Sorcerer/ess, as if it's something groundbreaking that we never expected. :P

Yes, what I noticed in the Empire/Chaos pairing, they only released the names of the shoe-in classes first, and nobody was surprised, and waited till the very end to tell us the spots that nobody could guess... And I hate them for it too.

From what the dev's have been saying, this is an all or none, but I am still worried that they will do it like they did with empire and chaos.

That being said, I hope that they do tank and melee dps. With those two, we can easily figure out what the other two are going to be probably.

But, if they only release two it will be sorceress and witch elf :( ... I'm betting on it.

Well the Kotaku article does say 'The first of the details' on the Elf armies. I guess it's not likely we'll get everything dumped into our laps all at once.

Aside from the elves I hope that we'll get to see working versions of the KotBS, Witch Hunter, Marauder and Chosen in PvP Scenarios!

I'm certain they will reveal the Sorceress in whatever roll shes in first, as its pretty much an implied class. Beyond that I think it will either be ranged (if the Sorceress isn't the ranged, which only leaves one real option) .. or the melee DPS. I am willing to bet they are as in contention over the Tank as most of us are. Its pretty much the wild card slot right now for the Dark Elves, but who knows. Anyways my fairly apprehensive bet goes to melee DPS/Support as the first two.

Obviously I want to know melee dps more than anything, but also knowing the tank class should be enough to indicate whether Witches are in or not (because they so don’t make sense anywhere else).

Of course I do hope that they’ll just reveal all of them. And I’m curious where people get the idea that they’ll do so (or is it just wishful thinking?). From what I’ve heard (http://kotaku.com/gaming/gc07/warhammer-elves-invade-leipzig-289634.php) it’ll be “exclusive first details about High Elves and Dark Elves”, which doesn’t exactly fill me with hope that they’ll tell all eight classes.

There’s one problem with the question posed by this thread though... when they reveal class names, how do you know what roles they’ll be? For instance, if they say “Sorceress” how do you know whether it’ll be ranged or support (or something else)? I wasn’t around during the unveiling of the human careers... do they tend to just say the names or reveal a little bit more about them?

Well, how you tell which each class will fit together is by looking at all the classes.

Say, if they give us Sorcerer, Witch Elf, Executioner, and Corsair... I'm willing to bet that sorcerer would be ranged dps, witch elf dps/healer, executioner tank, and corsair melee dps.

If they say Black Guard, Shade, Witch Elf, Sorcerer, I'm going to say that Black Guard is tank, Shade is ranged dps, Witch Elf is melee dps, and Sorcerer is support.

If we have melee dps, then that will give us a very good idea of what most of the other classes are. And tank is just a wild card so would be nice to know.

Unless they come up with some entirely new class I don't see what other options there are. Unless they come up with an entirely new class that mixes the two a bit. Call it Dread Guard or Dread Knight.

Either way they chance of seeing a high elf noble in heavy armor is very high. Tanks are often seen in a sort of leader role (see KotBS) aka nobes for Druchii. Black Guard are Stubborn and Hate everything in the TT and that could translate well into a durable tank class that never surrenders and takes no prisoners (in a proverbial sense, they do take some to use as slaves after all :P).

They'll have to do a little better than that, I'm afraid. Fighting within Malekith's army, among his loyalists, the royal guard, executioners, wives and assassins, I don't think there's anywhere else in the world where you'd be more likely to get caught! Not to mention, there's rumour of tier 4 quests being given to you directly from your leader.

Assuming that male sorcerers are playable and not just included in-game as NPC's hiding in the shadows, they're gonna have to do a little lore-bending...

Oh man, as much as I want that to be true, it won't be. It pretty much has died, I guess because of Leizpeg(or because every point has been made 200 times over by at least 40 diffrent people), but with the release if the new info, it will only bring more. More "OMG WTF MYTHIC?!" and "Why [class name here] should be the melee class", and "[class name here] sucks!"

Uh.... your point? We know all the classes for Empire, Dwarfs, Greenskins, and Chaos. All the melee dps, all the tank, all the ranged dps, all the support. All of it. This is about elves, of which we know nothing(though some people are so sure of themselves they think they know what one or more of the classes will be).

i'd, personally, like to know about the tank and melee DPS. but as for what i think will be released... Support and ranged DPS...

it just seems that the most obvious choices for careers/classes are Sorceress (support) and Shade (ranged DPS). these, at least, would be the easiest to translate from teh tabletop game to an MMO.
