View Full Version : Excellent Idea for Zealot Healing

I have been thinking about how the zealot healing could be unique in a way or what not, and Im not sure if they have a better sytstem in place or somebody has already mentioned it. Here goes:

The Zealot would not be an effective healing if he only spammed his healing spells because each time he cast a healing spell twice in a row he would lose some healing from that spell. Example: If a spell casted heals for 100, it will heal for 100 the first time. However, if he heals twice in a row it will decrease in healing, maybe now only healing for 85 or somthing like that. However, there is a way to counter this. Each buff the zealot has casted increases the heal by x%, each debuff x%, and each damage spell casted will increase it by x%. THere will be a limit on how powerfull spells could get, but I hope you get the idea how if the zealot only spammed heals then he would become completly useless and very little healing.

How do you like the idea?

No, I actually dislike it quite a lot. A zealot's special mechanic is the Dark Ritual/Harbringer system, and the Marks of Chaos, those are supposedly their best spells they would have to be an idiot to not use and instead spam heals. To me thats enough, no need to punish them for doing one of their jobs(healing).

And a side-note to you, and other posters who do the same, describing your idea as "excellent" or "great" or "wonderful" or anything like that in the thread title really turns off people to the idea before they even read it, myself included.

Aw give him a break Gemini, he at least presented it well and whatnot. I mean, if he did this "uber1337haxx0r awes0m3z id30r" then it would turn into a flamefest, but he said it well enough. :p

It's funny how much of a contradiction the thread title is. This idea fails.

Not all healers need a system that forces them to do damage to give them things to do. Zealots won't be just sitting back, spamming heals; no, they are going to be very involved already with their Harbingers/Rituals and Marks.

When Mythic (*cough*Paul*cough*) said that there would be no "and I heal, and I heal, and I heal" classes," I didn't take that to mean healers would have to throw in nukes in addition to heals. I took it to mean that healers will have more to do than just heal, whether it be in the form of nuking, debuffing, buffing, etc.

It's a good start of an idea, the only problem with it is the way it'd work. You'd begin the battle at your prime and go downhill from there, rather than the opposite (which is how all the other classes work, by building up).

There is an extremely easy way around it. Heal, instant cast (whatever your lowest AP costing instant is), heal, instant cast, repeat. Always at 100% + in healing, although not the most efficient.

I still find it pretty comical as DAOC healers were nowhere near being just heal bots. Any Cleric/Healer/Druid that thought their job was simply to heal got the boot from my group. Go back to standing in a power font chain casting spread heal.

Sadly, in WoW, it's how all heal classes were before the expansion. Now there is some variety, but if they aren't specced for healing, don't expect them to heal at all.

And to get away from WoW....I love that WAR is making it so the support classes aren't just expected to heal. We are expected to do some damage, put on some debuffs, make things chaos, while throwing out a heal or two. Makes me all tingly inside.
