why are they in green..shouldn't they be in blue?

why are they in green..shouldn't they be in blue? Mages don't care much for colour-coded uniforms like the Colleges of Magic. It's sort of a sea green, isn't it? There's a slight tinge of blue. It's almost teal.
Besides, when going through their apprenticeship, Mages are pretty close with Isha (learning prayers to her first), goddess of peace, nature, harmony and mercy in the Elven pantheon, so green is still pretty suitable. Any natural colour will do.

yep, but they still wear elven colors: blues, greens, whites.
I cannot wait to see their models in game, clothing, staffs, spells, high level stuff.... all so exciting!

While I like the classes Im not entirely thrilled with them using the name "Archmage" simply because this breaks with their current trend of only using Hero TT units or lower in rank. I would have preferred seeing the Term "Highmage" used instead.
My only hope is they went with Archmage only because "mage" would have just been too generic sounding and they didnt like the sound of High Elf Highmage (too many 'highs':mrgreen:) so they were left with using the only official name from the lore.....Archmage.

I think you should also remember Magus (pretty close to Mage) as the Chaos Sorcerer.
They all look cool though.

Except that a Chaos Sorcerer is still only at about the power level of a Warrior Priest ( a hero unit) ;)

No. A warrior priest is no match for a Sorcerer of Tzeentch. Ever.
And the fact is that Archmage is more distinct from Magus than Mage is (thats just the name).
Whether it was the Mage or the Archmage would have made little difference to their abilities. The Archmage just gets more spells on the TT and an extra 50 points to spend on magic items. They still have access to all the same lores and magic items. The Archmage just gets more than a mage.
And also, Archmagi pwn.

ok, now according to the rule book we have a number of discrepencies that are causing problems........
1) WP is a match for a Sorcerer of Chaos Undivided
2) You can never have a "Sorcerer" of Tzeentch because Sorcerers arent allowed to take the Lore of Tzeentch. Only an Exalted Champion of Chaos is allowed to take the Mark of Tzeentch, giving them sorcerer abilities.
3) For the above two reasons this is why Mythic/GW made up the class "Magus", a class not found in the books because the real thing would have been too powerful.
So while I agree that a Champion of Chaos with the Heros Mark of Tzeentch would absolutely trounce a WP, we arent dealing with one of those thank Sigmar :mrgreen:

It matters in that, until this class......ALL of the other classes based on TT units were no more powerful than a Hero unit.
Mage = Hero Unit
Archmage = Lord Unit.
That my only problem with the use of the name and has nothing to do with abilities.

First part - OK. I don't play Chaos, so I stand corrected.
But the second... what, you never expected a Lord Unit to get in?
I mean, come on. This is High Elves we're talking about. They are the best at magic in this game (not the best in the world - the Slann take that one). Thus, we have to consider that they could just go with the less powerful (and not quite as magical) Mage, or the more powerful, cooler Archmage. The latter is more in keeping with the magical nature of the High Elves than just a mage.

No, no I never expected a Lord unit to get in simply because of the other 16 unit choices (plus the 3 other Elf ones). I would have liked the Lord units to remain for NPC status only so the players always feel they are important but not too important. I also dont want to see Mythic in the future venturing into Lord territory with other future classes like the Slann, Grey Seer or Vampire Count.
Like I said above though there seems to be a decent reason to break with this prescident for a couple of reasons.....
1) The title "Mage" is admittedly bland and boring and ultimately generic.
2) A High Elf High Mage dosent really roll off the tounge. :p
3) Also there is a DE High Sorceress unit and since there is no 'official' High Mage title in the army books it might have lead to some confusion.

No, no. It's the Dark Elves that are the drug users, not us.
... Well, it's true.
Besides, 'Arch' gives a much greater sense of power and dignity than 'High.' Like how 'Magus'/'Magi' sound better than 'Mage'/'Mages.'
