You would think some would have posted here now that we know for sure Archmage is in. My wife is planning on playing one. :)

Probably because the most we know about them yet is that they're elves with robes that cast magic. They also tap people of "stuff" that we don't know about.

So, unless we want to talk about concept art, we haven't got a great deal as of yet to really say. >.>

That's why the Swordmaster is getting more attention, really. Thus far, people just want to know how the Archmages tap people of magic... or whatever.. >.>

I'm considering playing as one. I mean mages are usually fun to play, but I'm going to see what the other two final classes are.

It's a very difficult choice, at the end of the day. Melee tank, DPS, mage, or ranged.. I love aspects of all of the classes, grrrr..

This class is definately in consideration for me, though. I'm pretty intrigued on how good they really are with staves in close combat =P

Im going to play one, it seems like the most orginial caster in this game and everything about it interests me, the lore, the look, the siphoning power gimick.

Like I said, holding my judgment until I can see in-game renders of the class.

That said, they do look pretty interesting, and I'm not sure I'd mind playing one.

I'm probably going to end up playing one, they seem really interesting to me. Unless White Lions are implemented in an awesome way. If they are, in fact, a class.

I decided a long time ago that my main would definitely be a healer/support class, and as it stands right now the Archmage would be my first choice with the Goblin Shaman as second. Runepriest looks too much like a buffbot, and I hate constant buffing. Warrior Priest could be fun, but I have a feeling they may get beat down a lot on the front lines with so many heavy damage melee classes running about (Witch Elves and Choppas are probably both going to be fairly popular). Zealots, for whatever reason, simply do not interest me, I don't know if its just that their whole gimmick sounds cumbersome or that I don't like their hunched over look or something; they just do not appeal to me. Shaman I like because I think they will keep a player busy, but if the Archmage has more utility I will be more drawn to them. I would rather have the challenge of lots of buffs/debuffs and situational sort of spells with a little damage, versus being a nuker/healer like the Shaman. I will wait to make my final call until I see the Dark Elf healer, but right now Archmage is definitely the front runner.

When I played Final Fantasy 11, I loved my Red Mage: Jack of all trades, master of none. I too have been after a class that can in some fashion heal; I like the healer role. The other damaging/healers look fun but either seem to squishy or too close to combat for comfort. That said, I think the archmage will be great for standing back while getting into ranged combat and healing when possible. From the sounds of it, they'll have a great spectrum of spells too, which really attracts me to them. I don't mind not being at the top of the damage meters, but I do love being able to as many things as possible. And if I want melee action, that's what a Swordmaster alt character is for! :D Or maybe a Which Hunter! 8-)

Red Mage was nice, but I always hated being under-powered either way. They could do a little of everything, but they still didn't have full-leveled spells, and that's what bothered me. Besides, I'm a either a SAM or WHM by nature, and I left the RDM up to my friend. :) (Great team. ;))

That's one thing I'm curious about as well. When he mentioned that in the conference I was pumped. I don't like glass cannon casters and I hope that it's not just a pitiful staff whack that we'll never use. I'd like to see some sort of melee defensive ability that stuns your attacker with your staff or something...

Actually, I've been thinking about that too. In WoW, they had wands, which really, did great damage and kept you at a distance from melee damage. However, like you said, it's lame having a staff that's just for looks and stats. I mean, come on, lets be able to bring some kind of pain with it. So I believe they'll have some good damage come from staffs if only for two reasons: 1) If for whatever reason you can't cast, you can use your staff to deal damage. 2) Wands don't fit into WAR lore and it's already been done. ;)

We'll see how things play out and I hope they do have some cool staffs to use. Hell, maybe Staffs will have cool + elemental damage on them! That would rock.
