--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone,
I’m new to the forms. I just finish building a beta program in Dark Basic to allow for online play of Warhammer Fantasy or any other type of Fantasy game. The application is still in its beta stage but it allows up to 8 players join an online session and play over the net.
A chat session is available for general chat among other players, a virtual table with a hex gird is offered that allows everyone to see the same seen. This is just pure basic stuff no rules or anything like that were implemented it’s only a utility to allow everyone to see the same table.
I’ve left the entire code open source and left all the media out of the exe file to allow people to edit the material to better fit their needs.
You can download the software at http://www.pcrage2000.com/warhammer.htm

I’ve added macro dice to allow rolling for players that don’t have a set or are considered to not be honest.
I will try and make adjustments to the software if needed. Please if you have any comments or suggestions or questions about the code please let me know I’ll do my best to get back with you.
Let me know what you think.
For best results use TeamSpeak along with this application.

Wow - thanks Dela !
I have actually been looking fora program like this - Fantasy Grounds and the like are all D20 systems and no one seems to have changed the coding/started an WFRP mod.
Interested to try it when I get home!
:)
I'll start tailoring the application to diffrent gaming styels later on. But for right now its all open anything works as long as you got your self a good GM. I'm planing on adding web cam support, but I think thats a little to much. If enough people like the application I'll go ahead and build it on a 3D plane and introduce 3D character models and enemies.
Well its no where near fantasy grounds but I'll work on it and get it up to that speed Once I start inbeding the rules.

I don't know, I've never tried running a game online like that though. Usually just have a bunch of people sitting around a table.
:p
Hello, again.
Sorry I’ve been out of the loop for a while due to work.
The software is still available. I have not messed with that version in quite some time.
As far I know, when I first posted I was in the beta stage of testing. Testing went well except with clients that have zone alarm. Only reason we had problems with it was because I didn’t know anything about setting up the software to allow my program permission to access the web.
The website has been down, our cable company changed so my IP address changed as well. I just recently got the site back up. I will be rewriting the site and adding some forums to it.
I have also been working on a new version of the software. This new version is made to compete with Fantasy Grounds. It’s being written in VB 2005 using the 2.0 framework. I’ve also hired a graphics guy so this version should look a lot nicer and fancier.
Hopefully today I’ll get a chance to install the old version on my system and check it out. Then write a website for the project.
If everything goes well I will attempt to setup a beta session and host a game for 8 players. This will only be a test run of the old software so don’t expect a long 8hr game or anything =)
I’ll put up a sign up sheet as soon as I figure out how to enable PHP on windows vista and setup some forums.
I hope to hear from you all soon.

Cool.
Moving to Off Topic.
I bring you change
ooo 8 players. I'll be up any day.
Will it be one of those "1 core regiment each" 8 player battles? Because that's so much fun, and rather short. Order vs Destruction, 4v4.
Warhammer Fantasy
It's more like each player controls 1 character and focuses on that characters skills and abilities. World takes place in a Fantasy setting, with some type of story line.
So its kind of like a DnD game with Warhammer rules.
Depending your GM's skill the game can be action pack with little down time and loads of fun or it can be slow and uneventful.
Most of this depends on my intoxication level.
Three cheers for liquor =)

Oh, I see. I downloaded the application yesterday to give it a look, but I couldn't host (it crashed), and I didn't have any IP's to join. Good job on the application though :) I really like the graphic.
I will install and try it out today.
I haven't messed with it in a long time.
Yeah the graphics kind of suck IMO.
The new version will have nice graphics. I even hired a dude to do them for me.
I'll update the site as soon as I get home and test it out.
Finally got a chance to look at the code I wrote a few years ago.
Man was I lazy.
I found quite a few problems with the software.
I fixed the error with the (sound already exits on line XXX)
I left out a redim =p quick fix.
Another thing I noticed in the software is that all my recourse files
are not path to correctly. This takes in assumption that all the files are in the same
directory as the running exe file. This is usally not a problem.
however I did notice that on Windows Vista this is not the case.
The execute directory changes, to what; I don't know.
To work around this I opened up a console window and
navigated my way to the softwares install directory.
From their I just ran the exe file and everything worked great.
After testing the software I did find a lot of bugs. Not major ones just
some that make the screen flash and other odd junk.
The new version is completely different and will make this look like something
a first grader made.
Now with that being said don't get your hopes up about running this program and being
amazed. This was a utility that was built on the fly to provide a virtual table top for players
over the internet. Team speak would be running on the side to make this software more
piratical.
