First of all, I would like to give out a big HELLO to you all in the Empire Forums, as this is my first post.:D

Now onto the topic.

I don't play these MMO games. I look at 'WOW' as a final solution to help me fall asleep rather then entertain me . RPG's have some interest, I've enjoyed games like ' star-wars, Knights of the old republic' etc. But at my core drives a tactical-shooter and RTS gamer. Interested in only 'modern' warfare, and even sci-fi.

Yet for some odd reason I've taken a great interest to Warhammer online...
Now for a guy like me, this is pretty left field getting into this sort of thing, putting aside the assualt rifle to pick up a sword.:? And to be honest, I don't have much of a clue when it comes to the races. So I've done my research and I've come to find the Empire as my choice so far... I did alot of silly online "what warhammer race suits you" type of quiz things, and I got Empire for all of them, and even got 'Imperial Guard' as a result for a 40k quiz, but thats off-topic.

Anyway, I figured that because each race is 'stereotyped' I would decide what race suits me best on my personality. ;)

My question to you lot is how did you decide the Empire suited you? Was it an interest at first sight sort of thing, were you drawn between 2 or more races? Or were you as lost and confused as I am?

Im totally lost in between Warrior Priest, Bright Wizard and Witch Hunter. I try to look for a class which suits my beliefs, my mind...

Lets say, if this was real and I was human I would defonately try to apply to bright wizard college, magic allways draws me and I like it alot, but Im a loner and I dont like being with people, so witch hunter seems to suit me alot, but I also believe in stuff and think alot so maybe a warrior priest?

grrrrr -.-

I guess I just try to think of what I would want to be if I were living in that particular world. I've always idolized Holy Knights, such as those of the Round Table, Jedi, etc., so I often find myself gravitating to those types of classes in games. In the case of this game, that would be a Warrior Priest.

So, it seems you've already decided that you want to be a Human. Now you just have to consider what type of human you'd picture yourself as being, ideally. Would you be a stalwart defender of your homeland and people, solely through strength of will and arms, without reliance on magic or holy powers? If yes, then a Knight of the Blazing Sun is the class for you. Would you be an outsider, lurking in the shadows, protecting the Empire from its enemies both within and without? If yes, then a Witch Hunter is the class for you. Would you be a wise and powerful mystic, able to bend fire itself to your will, to the point that it becomes a part of you? If yes, then a Bright Wizard is the class for you. Would you be virtuous and a paragon of morality, in service to your God and an inspiration to all around you, a light that cuts the darkness? If yes, then a Warrior Priest is the class for you.

Take these suggestions into account and you'll likely find the answer you're looking for.

To help you OP, I picked a warrior priest for 2 reasons.

1. In every game i play, i pick the good guys, always. furthermore the holy warrior archetype which everyone loves to hate, always. because the holy warrior is the guy who usually fights hopeless and seemingly impossible battles and wins through faith.

2. I wanted to pick a side that was the main enemy of chaos, which is a force that seeks to destroy or enslave all. and it looked like chaos was really popular in these and other fansites. i wanted to be that one individual that would stand up to so great and seemingly unstoppable an entity.

im not sure what side you will pick, but i guess a class whose story you can really get into. for me, the most interesting stories are of paladins, holy knights etc. so i always try to find classes almost the same as these. and in 40k the Space Marines are the closest to my 2 criteria, so you can see the connection.

Ogmios has a pretty short and sweet guide above my post. I hope you find a side that fits your playstyle.

Play a Dwarf Engineer and you won't even have to put down the rifle... ;)

Well empire arent that great either,i m pretty sure that they want to wipe out all the non-humans and non-sigmarites too =P

plus you can actually see holy energy ( or w/e) as the truly evil force in most games...

It's unnatural compared to Shadow,Nature,Death etc...It wipes out other "elements" and it tries to create unnatural order outta everything.

So yeah,if you think of it,Holy energy is evil.

I don't think that's true, seeing as how they have a close relationship with the Dwarfs.

Since when does supernatural = evil?

Gorrr

Well,it's evil because...

If you look at natural "elements",it's like using renewable energy/resource sources, not wipiing out thousands of species and caring about enviroment.

And holy is like mining all the metals out, then building some sorta mechanical monstrosity of a city using it and destroying all the planet =P

Uh, how? I don't see that.

While I respect opinions, Gorr, the fact that the empire is corrupt, oligarchal and executes innocents at times suspecting them of heresy does not make them comparable to chaos.

think of it this way. chaos is invading empire, not the other way round. empire has no interest in chaos except to eliminate it because it is an evil influence. chaos seeks to destroy the empire or enslave its inhabitants to its dark gods. the chaos gods themselves describe themselves as dark gods, and no empire character sacrifices people to Sigmar. yet all chaos gods mostly Tzeentxh and Khorne demand sacrifices of their subjects etc.

so please, lets not get into this discussion, chaos is exponentially worse than empire. and for the sake of viewing the conflict in a binary fashion. chaos, aka the invading power is viewed as evil.

second. holy magic, shadow magic, chaos magic, its just magic, nothing more. although, if you look at all games where these are included, wielders of holy magic take on the role of protectors and doers of good, not to mention paragons of virtue, except a few.
wielders of the converse, shadow magic, protect no one, are not interested in serving a greater good, and most likely use this magic to destroy or cause pain and suffering.

see the difference? no way anyone can say both sides use their magic for the same purpose.

sorry for derailing the thread OP. All the same, whatever fits your playstyle.

I found the answer indeed. Your words on the Knight of the Blazing Sun have won me over, finally I now know what I want to be in this game

Thanks for everyone posting their opinions and explaining the various styles of classes.

Well. I got a flight of stairs, wrote the classes/races down on them, Threw myself down said stairs to see which would have my blood on it. Turns out I'm a Dark Elf Ironbreaker. :-?
