So, I know the class is called the swordmaster, but I was wondering if they will be able to use maces?
And before people start yelling at me, I know they only use swords, but what about maces???


now all point and laugh at a certain dwarf who started a certain thread in the hammerers forum that has reached 6 pages :-D

Swordmasters use Swords, they studied sword for a long long time, thats all they know. Give them a knife and they won't know what to do with it.

But really, a Swordmaster with a mace using those superfast abilities would look stupid

1- Actually, they are trained in all manner of weaponry, from swords to axes to maces to war hammers etc etc.

2- But in W.A.R., they will only use swords.

Its kinda oviuse that they will only use swords :)

In fluff, they can use maces.

But its kind of like this: a mace to a Swordmaster is like a blaster to a Jedi. Obiwan sums it up perfectly - "So uncivilised"

And remember, Paul did call Swordmasters proto-Jedi, so it does fit. :cool:

The answer is probably yes. Just like A DPS class in DAoC could use a staff but didnt because all of their important abilities were tied ot more appropriate weapons.

They will most likely also be able to utilize shields if the want but you will again be basically crippling yourself classwise.

I just can't stand those people who post something to prove a point and make a joke. Only thing I hate more is people that can't think of something constructive to add to a thread but still wants to post to make it go up to six pages to make the joke even better. I spit on you.

Wouldn't they be called Macemasters if they were designed around maces? :p

As others have said, I'd imagine you CAN use Maces, but you probably won't be able to use special abilities while doing so.

Actually I'd like to talk about that. I don't think they can. Okay I might be wrong and there might be exceptions but the way I see it most if not all weaponry and armour is class specific. It is my understanding that mythic desires to do this because it makes no sense for a dark elf to run around dwarven armour or the other way around. Hence there might be nothing but swords for the swordmaster to wield.

I might very well be wrong, but this has been my understanding.

But really, as I said before I made that post when I was very,very tired, and realized how stupid it was after I posted it.

The only mace I can imagine High Elves wielding is the pepper-spray kind in a can, probably used to fend off would-be rapists who mistake them for Vidal Sassoon models.
