Guild Character Profiles

Please add a player note ability for guild masters and officers to apply. A lack of player notes makes keeping track of alts and join dates in game very difficult. In said notes, an autolog of join dates and other information for members should be stored with their profile.

Another suggestion I have is an option to be able to sort players by account in the guild menu so that you can easily get an accurate count of real players rather than players plus alts. You don't have to reveal the account name, just a setting to know that the characters are linked by the same common account. Honestly, I think the best way of implementing this is to allow the player to establish this themselves by selecting their main and their alts through the UI. Then the information is displayed in the character profile. The default setting should be the first character to join the guild is the main character and all subsequent characters are alternates until otherwise designated by the player.

Example: If Vancomycin joined the guild first and my alt, Paddy joined second, then on Paddy's guild notes, it would say "Main Character: Vancomycin" by default until I designated Paddy as my main. The main's (Vancomycin) guild profile would say Associated Characters: Paddy.

All in all, a guild note should be like a mini profile. Example, let's assume that I have 3 characters, Paddy, Saw and Vancomycin in my guild. Here's what my notes should look like automatically for Paddy if Vancomycin is my main.
Paddy - 24 Bright Wizard - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Guild Rank: Officer
Main Character: Vancomycin
Other Associated Characters: Saw (and the rest of the alts are listed here)
Join Date: October 11th, 2008
Invited By: Ezaurus (player who invited to the guild)
Other Notes: Paddy is the Guild Talisman Crafter (Specific notes entered here by guild leaders and officers)

On the profile, a simple check box for "Set as Main Character" would be a simple way of setting your profile.

We could then have an option in the guild roster to list only main characters to get an accurate headcount.

Guild Rank Advancement

In an effort to keep large guilds from dominating the server, Mythic has set up a system similar to this model: Guild xp gain = (Contributions from members)/("Active Players")

They stated that inactive players and alts wouldn't hurt the guild xp gain, and that's all good stuff. However, there are a lot of questions that are still unanswered.

What specifically defines an "active player"? Played in the last 3 days, week, month? Will an account with 3 alts count as 1 or 3 active players?
Lets assume I contribute 100000 guild xp for a week's play on one character. If I play all three of my characters, are they all flagged as "active" and the guild recieves 33333 xp then?
I believe the best system would be (Contributions from members)/(Active ACCOUNTS) Currently, with the vague communication on the subject, many guilds are restricting alts and making other policies based off of assumptions. Also, if the above is correct, it's punishing guilds who have players that like to play more than one class. I myself have a dps, a tank and a healer that I like to rotate around based on what my guild needs at the time. Am I punishing the guild's experience by playing them? I don't know. :|

I understand that Mythic doesn't want to reveal the magic formula to keep guilds from exploiting the system, and that should remain the case. The main problem is that the current information is very vague when it comes to establishing the basics of guild advancement. A detailed clarification would be awesome:cool:

Yes, please. The ability for me to keep my OWN notes on players (i.e. only I can see them and write them) would be nice as well as guild wide notes written/maintained by guild officers.

Do the same for my friends/ignore lists too please. :D

I would also like to chime in on a decent clarification. Our guild is currently allowing alts, but many of us have un-guilded alts simply because we don't know how badly we'll be hurting the team as we do our normal alt-hopping.

Exactly. Some guilds are even making alt guilds for their alliance and they just invite people back in if they're going to play on a different character for a week.

Shameless bump to see what others might have to say about this.

The guild advancement needs more clarification.

There doesn't seem to be a statistical connection when you look at wardb.com rankings or http://www.waralytics.com/ rankings between guild levels.

It appears that smaller guilds (20-40 members) have the highest ranked guilds, but that's not completely true because there's a few 100+ member guilds.

I'm also in talks with an alt guild for this purpose. I would like clarification on that piece.
