I think that War Hammer will be different in terms of pet PvP. In War Hammer Pets are real tanks. In Wow Pets are things that bug the hell out of who ever your fighting.

Warhammer's only pet class (thus far) is allegedly "not crap".
There are multiple abilities which have been designed to create a more dynamic use of squigs than just as a caster-interrupt and extra damage. These abilities will include but are not limited to: poisonous squigs, hopping into the squig's mouth and driving it around as a battle suit, exploding squigs, sticky rooting squigs, and of course eating the squig to regain hp in a pinch. In addition, you are given a plethora of squigs from which to choose for any situation accordingly (all different types can be summon while in battle, but only one is out at a time). If all of what the devs have said holds up, in theory a squig herder is his squigs.
To get an idea of some of the abilities and squig breeds which have been publicized I suggest looking on one of the Warhammer Wiki's or using Lucy, our friendly WHA search engine.

Thanks for filling us in, I know nothing much about sqiug herders. I'm glad to have them on the side of the Green Skins.

So long as you don't have to waste your time running around looking for a vendor to buy meat or whatever to feed your pet, it will already be better than other game systems.
The only thing I should be feeding my pet is the eyeballs, brains and entrails of my enemies (I savez da prime cuts fer Da Boyz).

It has been going around that the pet doesn't disappear once the PC is dead and keeps attacking the last target, we can only hope that follows through to the finished version.

I watched a video of a War hammer Q and A. They said that will be final or at least there for release. Squigs will stay and fight until all enemies around are gone, then they walk away.

I think that the pets are just like higher level mobs, they wont last very long without you but they wont die as soon as you do.

Plus from what we could last tell, the Squig Herder's cast time to summon in another pet was 2-3 seconds.

Personally the few videos I have seen of group RvR/PvP even though a Squig herder hasnt be in the fights, I think they will do awesome, sit on the outskirts of battle launching arrows and send the squig in to do the rest, or go for the solo Brightwizards, Warrior Priest etc that are healing up on the edges as well. Just theorycraft but seems to me that it would work well.
