View Full Version : Shrapnel Arrer/Glass Arrow

These wide-area DoT effects fromt he Squig Herder and Shadow Warrior are pretty lackluster right now. Shrapnel Arrer (http://www.wardb.com/spell.aspx?id=1846) does 100 damage over 15 seconds with full mastery, which is a total joke. Glass Arrow (http://www.wardb.com/spell.aspx?id=9103) does more damage, but in a smaller radius. Additionally, they are pretty boring since both classes have a similar elemental-damage area DoT (like Flame Arrow (http://www.wardb.com/spell.aspx?id=9088)) and regular ranged insta-cast DoTs.

Reading the PTS forum about glass arrow, I saw some suggestions to make it like Gork Sez Stop (http://www.wardb.com/spell.aspx?id=1964) or Enfeebling Strike (http://www.wardb.com/spell.aspx?id=9401)
The motivation was that the shards of glass would make it hard to move. This gave me another idea which wasn't really appropriate for the 1.06 feedback but could hopefully make it later. Why not do something similar, and make these abilities enchant the ground to damage those moving over it? It could be like:
"Glass Arrow deals X damage and places glass shards in a 30ft radius around the target. For the next 15 seconds, (enemy) players moving over the shards will suffer Y damage every second."

This adds some utility to these two support-rdps classes and makes these abilities more interesting and tactical than standard dots. Thoughts?
