View Full Version : Loot and Look

Out of all of the classes in the game, the KoTBS is the one that needs it's look the most. It is a knightly order, and without the right color and ornamentation they become just another knight, or worse yet, they will look like freelances. However, one problem that comes up in my mind is that they will all look the same. So, if you kill that orc warboss and find a shiny new helmet, should that helmet look like the one the orc was wearing, or should it be a KoTBS helmet? And also, what about the colors? If you find a blue cloak, you will not really look like a KoTBS, but should we be forced to only wear one color?

There are a few 'solutions' to this that I have come up with, and I am hoping for some more opinions on this.

1. Only KoTBS equipment
This way the knight will continue to look like his class no matter what, and we can avoid a whole lot of silliness.

2. Customizable gear
You can start wearing things that you find in your adventures. If you find a helm that looks like it could belong to a Brettonian knight and you like the look, then you should have it! Besides, it makes rping knightly orders besides KoTBS so much more easier...

3. Minor Customization
The armor and the colors have to stay KoTBS. However, minor things can be customized. If you'd like you could start having the skulls of slain enemies hang off of your horse, or perhaps there are religious scrolls on your armor to show off your faith and to ward away harmful magic. By having this kind of customization, players can look like KoTBS without being purely the same.

4. Insert your idea:_________

I *think* I read somewhere that if you're Career X, the loot that drops for you will be the loot for Career X. Can't confirm this, but maybe someone else can.

However, this may eliminate half the need for trading / selling. Dunno.

Im guessing that would happen

So far armor hasnt matched on any races/classes from vids and pics. So either you only get drops for your class, you get drops from other classes, but can only wear yours, OR one piece of armor looks different for different classes/races (which I hope this last option isnt the one they go with)

Actually i'm worried about how the KotBS are looking right now. I mean in one of the screen shots a knights helmet looked like it was made of stone, and that his back plate pieces were just patches painted on his pants. AND his breast plate looked liked a grey shirt. I mean compared to the Priest of Sigmar thats pretty bad.

I completely agree. this should change l it seems to me like theyre working on classes a few at a time and the WP was just first in line. Although i do hope they put as much work as they have in other classes.

I also want to see them looking close to the knights lore wise, which means they can wear more then 1 colour scheme as lorewise i have read they can be almost completely black; as well as red. Seeing as Kotbs are not a very tightly disciplined unit and go off on their own often its safe to assume they would not all look the same, they should however stick to having their symbols.

And please let us use more weapons then swords; although this is a different topic . Knights have always used all sorts of weapons, historically and lore wise. Give us Axes, hammers, even flails would all be realistic and would add variation and overall fun, not to mention different damage types making the class more versatile.

Pretty sure I've seen screenies of knights with spears and such.

All gear is class specific, so a Knight will always look like a Knight, only a Knight, and nothing but a Knight.

This would be pretty awesome tbh. Being restricted to one or two colours is kind of lame.

The keyword is "armor dyes".

On another note, early screenshots had the zealot always holding a skull. This spawned some threads that complained about the obvious lack of alternatives. With the latest batch of artwork we now see that there is a range of alternative "fetishes" planned for the zealot to hold in his offhand.
I expect (read: hope) that there will be variations in the armor design for the KoTBS without making him look like anything but a Knight.

The starting equipment makes one look like a State Troop with different colors...

Agreed. This is less than awesome.

Atleast the concept art equipment looks fantastic, it's just the starting equipment, i mean, could we atleast had started with a single breastplate?

Starting out looking like a state troop isn't all that bad in my opinion. If you start off as a newly inducted knight and you are wearing fairly common armor, then it shows that you just started. You are still fairly elite, as you are part of the knightly order and likely already had to prove yourself to get that far, but you are not a full fledged member. Then if you get a quest that officially makes you a 'real' knight and you start getting the actual fluffy armor then it will really feel like an accomplishment. If you start off looking fancy from the start, there isn't much room to grow.

plus I like the average soldier look. ;)
