Losing stuff?

I've been conversing with a friend recently about WAR, and he continues to mention that he doesn't want to spend time getting gear only to 'lose it' and be taken away by the enemy.

Where is he getting this idea? Or did I miss one of the WAR classes that said this?

In RvR, if you kill an enemy, you can loot stuff from their corpse. However, and this is probably the misunderstanding on his part, you don't loot their stuff, you just loot stuff. It's just like a PvE mob as far as looting goes, certain parameters(reknown, level, exp, who knows what) will give certain items.
