This actually looks cool (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWZ2WdeTo1M). I might start again, add some ventrillo, this would rock.
Curious to know how much this subscription fee will be, and if everyone will be required to have it, or just the DM (to play on the online game board)

I believe all players will have to have itif you want to play together over the internet.
The subscription will probably be around $10/month but it also includes acess to new gaming articles and adventures (since the two fanzines Dungeon and Dragon have closed down).
I've heard that subscribers will also get access to expanded material (things that didn't make the cut) of print books.
(Just as long as they keep paying the sub...)
I think it might be cool, i'll probably try it for a month or so...

Sounds like an interesting option but unfortunately D&D is just not for me anymore (apart from the pretty much unsupported planescape). Got tired of a lot of the generic settings and what I see as a horrible ruleset. I'd rather play something more creative and not filled with 100's of things I wish didn't exist (yes I can easily make my own setting but I'd never choose the D&D ruleset for that).
Sounds interesting. I'm definately going to look more in to it. How subscriptions are handled, and how the online play application works will be the deciding factor for me.

4E changes the rules-set dramatically, so, depending on your problems with the current iteration of D&D, it may be to you taste.
As for Digital Initiative stuff, I'm a little leery of it myself due to the subscription fee. I can understand paying for access to content, but currently they're planning $9.95/month fee for full access, with no "lesser" access apart from undisclosed per-session fees for players playing in your online game. Seems a bit dodgy to me, especially when there are free alternatives.

Apart from the flashiness, I don't see any advantage this has over RPing via IRC or IM and the like. Then again, I'm a longtime AD&D 2nd Ed player. None of this newfangled d20 system stuff for me. Most of the things that changed with d20 my group already has covered (better, imho) with a simple system of house rules. Nifty concept I suppose but for a $10/month subscription it just doesn't seem worth it for us old timers. Now, if it were a one time payment software package with no ties to any specific rules set, that might change my mind.

I think I'll stick to NeverWinter Nights2. Nothing beats that game with a good DM and a well thoughout and built modual.

One of these days I should really try D&D again. I only played it once, for college credit. (Honors Societies rule when it comes to getting away with stuff like that.)
