Yea, back when Shadow Warriors were just what the mods here assumed would be it (though honestly they were bout the only choice we had), so now that White Lions have been mostly said they're in, let's get a forum up so we can talk about how awesome we'll be! :p

Must... restrain... self... from... ranting....


I plan on making a White Lion if they are confirmed as a class, but I am dreading the names for both Players and pets.

Here is a small list of names that I will make it my lifes goal to hunt down and kill their owners if I see them in game:
- Kimba
- Simba
- Aslan
- Siegfried
- Roy
- The names of any of Siegfried and Roy's cats
- Steve Irwin ( I know the is the crocadile hunter but... you know and I know some chuckle nut will do it... probably on a Squig herder(teeth) gut if not it will definately be someone with a with a white lion character)
- The guy from Wild America
- Tarzan
- Boy
- George
- Kitty (or any variant of said name)
- Leo, Leopold, leon, Lion-O, ect. ad infinitum
- Panthro
- Cheetara
- Wily Kat and Kit
- Any other member of the Thunder Cats(tm)
- Cat Women
- Every character from the Lion King
- Every character from the Jungle Book (especially Shir Khan and Bagera)
- Fluffy
- Cuddles
- Mr/Mrs. Whisker
- Anyone making an innuendo reference to a womens sexual organs..

Actually I might just be better off making a dark elf and just spend my time hunting While Lionse exclusively... otherwise i will be to busy dueling other While lions to lvl..

Guess it all depends on how much involvement the players will be given, I'm a big fan of the "tame it and name it" method myself, over the "learn it and cast it" method.

They may have a given name like warlock pets in wow which i kind of favour as long as the there is a big enough name database, it should be ok, its not that i hate people naming their own pets its just down to, as said above, people end up naming them stupidly and on rp servers this definately breaks the immersion abit. Although if they have strict GMs monitoring the rp servers i'm all for being able to name your own "pet"

People will name their characters just as idiotically as you're worried they're going to name their pets.

Why is everyone so worried about what the pets will be named, when it's no different than player naming?

Because player naming has rules while pet name has none other than it can't be abusive, so its not "policed".

Well, I guess its safe to say that since its been added to the Career section in the User CP, its okay to add it as a forum.

In my post (which was supposed to be funny), I meant BOTH owner and pet names.

And the above poster is correct in the assumption that there will be those with idiotic names...


Those who are hoping for strict rules and attentive GMs on RP servers, don't get your hopes up.
WoW (during the first month or so), had very draconic rules about names on their RP servers, and I'm sure most of you remember the complaints about it.
"The game is supposed to have a sense of humor the GMs need to lighten up ect>"
So they did. And now the RP servers are only slightly and I do mean slightly better than normal or PVP servers.

On top of that, World of Warcraft initially had very strict rules concerning conversations and there was supposed to be random monitoring. Well that never really happened and they ended up changing the official rules (without informing the playerbase) about what GMs were expected to do.

Now its not really there fault that they have over a hundred servers and there is no way to actually enforce those original rules without employing an obscene number of well trained GMs. But I do fault them for the shady way they went about it.


As far as I can tell the only game where an RP server really works is Everquest (One) where you only allowed one character per RP server. No alts and no twinking and its pretty easy to report names of those breaking the rules on said sever.


Honestly while RP servers do tend to attract a decent crowd, some people come to RP servers specifically because they think that they will have an easy time in PVP or just to harrass role players.
Unless Mythic decides to have dedicated GMs on their RP servers, who will strictly enforce the rules, you might as well be on a normal server really.

Easily fixed by just putting in a naming filter for pets.
I'll be surprised if they let you name them though.

No idea if they will let you name them or not. It's a new popular thing to do, but mainly with classes that only have 1 pet. If White Lions are put in, they will probably only have 1 pet and not a variety like Squig Herders, it's just part of how they seem to have been described. I dont see them allowing SH to name their pets, but at the same time it feels sort of odd to just be running around for 40 levels with a cat named, <Tiger> beside you. The SH pets sorta have to keep their names so that players can easily detect what kind of squig they are up against. (i.e. horned squig..just root it. Spiked Squig, outrange it,ect.) but the WL pet would probably just be the same.
