Heya guys I have been trying to understand the Warhammer RvR system.

In DAOC there are three teams this dynamic makes it the best RvR game to date due to the amazing elements a 3rd party brings to the table.

So if Warhammer 1v1 or are there other factions that join in. I read up to 4 factions but I think I have mis interpreted it.

If there isn't any plans for this? why not? its what sets your RvR apart from all others. 1v1 gets stale quick, when you add a 3rd or 4th party into it you have yourself an awesome amount of chaos!

Anyways if anyone actually knows what is the story with number of RvR factions that will be up against each other at the same time I'd love to hear about it.

Also I hope the devs do have more than 2.

Thanks

Its Order against Destruction

Order have 3 races, The Empire (humans), The Dwarfs and the High Elfs
Destruction have 3 races too, Chaos (evil humans), The Greenskins (orcs and goblins) and the Dark Elfs

Each race fights its nemesis (Chaos vs Empire, Dwarf vs Greenskin and Elfs vs Elfs) and their goal is capture the enemy capital city http://www.warhammeronline.com/english/media/podcast/files/Tir-RvR_explaination_final.html

You can also travel between the frontiers so it isn't just Chaos vs Empire ...

what do you mean by travel between frontiers?

So it will be more than 1v1 sides?

Order: Empire, Dwarfs and High Elves

Destruction: Chaos, Greenskins and Dark Elves

Chaos has its own set of zones that are right next to the Empire zones. So Chaos and Empire fight.

Greenskin zones and Dwarf zones are next to eachother, so they fight.

High Elves and Dark Elves have their zones next to eachother, so they fight.

If you're playing a Greenksin, you can travel to, for example, the Chaos zones and help them out with the fight against the Empire.

Mils you are looking at this in a very simplistic view. As if the way Daoc was done is the only way possible of making a dynamic model.

In Daoc the most powerful faction ended up getting double teamed on. Very predictable.

In WAR we know the sides, yes this is true. But what we dont know is how they will be arrayed. Are all the Dwarves going to stay in their zone today? Or are we going to find our Empire enemies bolstered greatly by their numbers? Now you have a serious difference from day to day where as in Daoc is was pretty much predictable every day as each server had its generally more powerful faction. In WAR you never know exactly who and how many of them you will be fighting until its happening.

The three-faction system is far superior to two factions. The only reason Warhammer has only two factions is because there was no possible way to make three factions fit with the lore. It's unfortunate but nothing could be done about it.

In DAoC it definitely was not always the two weaker factions against the stronger one, although that did help with keeping an overpopulated faction down. But let's say you're Midgard fighting against Albion and then Hib comes from behind Midgard and runs into everyone they will most definitely slaughter all the Mids, even if the Albs are the most powerful realm. It's not like the two weaker realms agree not to attack each other. It's extremely dynamic and you never know what will happen. In Warhammer it will be very predictable, there will be one main fight going on and no outside factors will influence it.

Anyone who thinks the races will stick to their own lands is crazy. People will join mixed race guilds like always and they will hang out with their guildmates. You will not see more dwarves in dwarf lands than empire people. It won't happen except maybe in tier 1-tier 2. End-game will be an even mix in every land.

Well it was possible, they just chose not to go that route. When the game started it looked like it was going to go: Good v Evil v Chaos. It would have then worked like DAoC. I seem to remember them discussing this as a way to go back in mid 2005. I think a Dwarfs,High Elves, Empire v Dark Elves, Goblins, Orcs v 3 gods of Chaos would have been sweet! Maybe a 4th on each side later.

It's a nice Idea, chaos being it's own faction alltogether with the 3 gods represented but i prefer it to two sides, it just makes things a little easier - Specially in terms of balance and such.

Three faction being far superior to two faction is an opinion. Albeit a very informed and factual in what you said, its still an opinion.

Personally I like the idea of having the guilds and having to watch over three battlefields. Guilds will have to work like actual military instituions. Sending out scouting groups to maintain where certain enemy groups and guilds are and then acting on that info to decide which battlefield to push.

Then deciding which guilds on your side you wish to share info with and which ones you dont wish to have around getting in the way:D

But to say its superior when one game is out and playable and the other is in a closed beta that isnt even up right now is hardly a factually based statement that can be classified as more then an opinion.

There are plenty of games out with two factions.

Yes..

Are those games WAR? Nope - We should stop trying to compare what every other game has done or whats it like and consider what would actually work for this one, and how it's currently being designed.

I just wish everyone would stop going on about other games and focus on this one :p
