So kinda wondering, do the Marauders even need weapons? I know they can mutate both arms, so is it they do need weapons and the mutations just give them an extra bonus?

Or would it be kinda like you just need the mutations to fight and get stronger every time you upgrade or buy high skill levels for them?

Yep.

Those offhand (weapon) mutation, function like stances. You change your mutation, and you get different abilities that can be used while under the effects of that mutation.

There are also various other mutations, that do not affect your weapon, and do not function like stances (like the famous "tentacle grab" ability).

Offhand weapon mutations are supposed to be treated as if they are a rare weapon of your appropriate level. Meaning, that it will likely be better than your mainhand weapon in most cases unless you get a really lucky drop :)

Don't count on it, honestly. I love Paul and his videos as much as the next guy, but what he says must not be taken as gospel. He's the funnyman, but he often times likes to exaggerate for the sake of comedy and getting people pumped for whatever he is talking about. Not to mention that things change as the development processes goes, and that "double chops" video is pretty old and outdated by our newest info. I'm afraid double mutations will go the same way as the legendary crab claw.

Indeed, if double chops were in, we'd know about it, I reckon they were in before the Marauder was finalised, which it isn't even finalised now.
