I noticed in the concepts there are shields for the swordmasters, yet in all the explanations I've only heard of them using greatswords, even the animations show them with greatswords. What's the deal?
Sword and shield option? Different skill-set?

Supposedly they can also use one handed swords. Not sure at this point if that would be a totally different set of chain attacks or not.

I'd guess probably not. Maybe one or two can only be done with 1h or 2h, but changing it all would be too many skills, imo. A whole set of 9 or so for each plus all the enchants and then normal taunts/guards/ect. But I dunno, maybe everyone is getting that many skills, who knows? If I had to guess I'd say a couple might be dependant, but not all of them.
And yes, they did mention we could get longswords if we want to go sword and board. I've heard speculation, but do we actually know if Swordmasters can dual wield?

Well none is sure yet if Swordmasters will be able to use dual wield. If they are let to use dual wielding longswords I am sure that he will be able to at LEAST equip longsword and shield. However, I don't see him been able to use much of what this class allows him with balance combos. Maybe there will be some different combos with dual wielding that someone mentioned somewhere...but I doubt there will be any moves for sword/board combo.

You mean any moves specifically for the sword/board combo right? Its a swordmaster, he Has to have combo moves. The shields are not wide and bulky, they are narrow and almost seem aerodynamic enough for their spinning moves and such so they would be able to not be hampered by the shield.

You might be right about this. Although, I doubt there will be any kind of specific moves for the sword/board combo. I do not expect them to use a shield anyway cause they are avoidance tanks. Yes I do agree that elven shields are slim and not excessively bulky however I think swordmasters are mainly trained to deflect the attacks with their weapon not their shields. I think from a training point of view they would not use a shield cause it would probably feel alien to their technique. If you have a big wide area of metal on your left arm which will you use to block an attack...that or your slim elegant longsword;) you get my point.

Yes, I agree. I would hazard a guess that they have a set of "basic" combos that are used by both then perhaps some extras for the two handed variety.
So you either have a bit more survivability or more combo's. Seems a fair trade.

^ Chosenone is pretty much on the right path
From what I have seen/read about it looks like all abilities require a "sword" apparently 1 or 2 handed, but some of the bigger abilites like Vortex, that sweeping attack that deflects enemies requires a "great sword", 2 hander.
but that could have all changed, just what I am assuming at this point based on interviews/demo videos.

I believe this is the case. However, my guess would be that there are some specific two-handed attacks that focus more on deflection tanking, and other two-weapon attacks that focus more on DPS-tanking etc.

No.
It doesn't matter if you're making it up or not.

You erased my message but actually, I'm not under nda so... but well who cares. Even for people under nda, I higly doubt this would be a break.
But well, seems you have some very strict rules to follow. Next time, I'll just pretend to be damn smart xD.
