Can the magus sit? I mean sitting even while fighting so he doesn't stick out so much in RvR by being so tall. Can he sit on his disc?

Probably works like all the other classes. They can sit but, will stand up to move.

What is the deal with so many concerned about being picked out from a crowd. From the start they have said they want people to be able to see someone from afar and be able to figure out what class they are and how powerful they are.

Right now I don't believe there is even a 'sit' function in the game - for any characters.

As it seems they are considering not having food/drink (regen is so fast you don't need it) maybe they won't even have a sit.

Mythic seems pretty leery of putting on many fluff emotes, I think because they are going overboard trying to be anti-wow in that regard.

If they do put in a sit though, I would expect the Magus would just sit down on his disc, while it continues to float, and perhaps it will hover lower to the ground or something.

How so? They said there will be plenty of emotes for such things, just not dance.

Let me start by saying that I love the disc. However, I think people are concerned about ranged dps vs ranged dps. The disc will make you a larger target and you will be easily targeted by witch hunters, engineers, bright wizards, ect. In the TT game they even have special rules about large targets being easier to hit and rightfuly so. I'm not saying there will be any numerical differences in how easy a magus is to hit, but when you're looking to see where that blast of blue energy just came from, that guy floating around towering over the black orcs, black guard and chosen isn't going to be that hard to find. At the same time, the little goblin picking people off with his bow and ducking behind the tanks is going to be a pain to kill.

Like I said, the disc is nails and I love it. I'm just kinda playing devil's advocate here.

And people won't be able to see the big walking torch that is the Bright Wizard? But I agree that the squig herder is going to be one sneaky little SoB. Anyway, witch hunters are melee DPS, not ranged.

I'm not sure any class could tower over a Black Orc or Chosen, disc or no disc.

I guess if people are that concerned about being picked out in a crowd, they'll just have to use terrain and cover a little more effectively than other classes; no biggy.

Also... sure in the lore they talk about flying around on the disk and soaring above the heads of those not a disc but implementing it into the game I very much doubt that you will be flying that high, in fact in the vids I have seen they floating but not that high, so towering over the tanks is a bit of a reach, maybe stick up a bit higher but not too much....

Sitting dancing and sleeping are all the exact same function basically and from what I have heard WAR will not feature any of them, besides who needs them

Yep. All the DPS range is going to be head-hunted, perhaps Bright Wizards most of all with them exploding fireballs all over the place and possible having the best AOE.

As a Magus, at least we will have some utility abilities and close combat tricks to stay alive. Bring them on. The disc needs to eat.

Exactly. I can just see the GTA machinima in the works for drive by discing.

In PVP MMOs concealment is added survival. Being able to look at a character and determine their class isn't the same as that character standing out in a crowd, shorter characters are often created by min-maxers for this reason (when height is an option). Height and size also come into play when you're hiding, such as behind a piece of wall in keep defense and can be the difference between an enemy not knowing you're there and them waiting for you to pop out so they can attack. LOS can also vary with size depending how that works.

Hopefully they don't make the magus 4 feet taller than everything and flashy, but overall I wouldn't be too worried. One would hope if the Magus is freakishly tall w/ the disc or it affected gameplay in a large way that a beta tester would speak up

I was concerned about this as well. So far I see the only solution is just own that much harder to keep the balence

True that you can do frikkin' Flipflop backwards between ze legs turnover on your disk? Saw a movie with a, I think female, magus doing that. Anything know about that?
Saw this question before: Does the disc thingie change and with that gets more effective/dangerous?

Ty.

Unfortunately, the Chaos flipping video (female Magus right?) they said was just for testing purposes and you won't actually be able to jump like that on your disc, at least last we heard.

Yes, the disc change as you level it also gets more powerful and demonic looking they have said. It also gets new abilities.

This has been a topic that's been bugging me.
I can definitely understand the lack of "fluff" emotes like dancing, but I think that emotes in general add personality to a game. EQ2, for example. A quest NPC, while explaining why he wants to exact revenge on his idiot brother, would move his arms vehemently, making it a little more obvious as to their intention. I'd be disappointed if WAR had the sum total of pointing in a direction, nodding, and shaking your head "no".

I don't consider sit to be a fluff emote. It just makes sense. I mean... can you imagine a world where everyone stands, all the time?

"Oy, Gradun, why's this tavern got these wooden. four-legged things fer?"
"I dunno, Djorg. 's'like a table, but wee an' wit' a guard on one side o' it."
"A myst'ry, aye?"

Or for roleplayers, like myself... I can't really imagine speaking at length while standing. However, I'm sorta lazy.

Click Bar stool
You sit in bar stool...
Is that enough or do you want to be able to sit on the dirty ground anywhere?
I mean if you want it, its not hard to implement it
But is it really necessary to anyone who isnt playing RP?
FYI
Sit = Dance = Sleep
in programming-idk if that means anything to anyone but just saying

Now, I really dont mind if the game lack some emotes and voice emotes, but I really hope that they make some in patches to come. Emotes are what make the game more "alive" between players imo.
