Lance Robertson the producer for Warhammer Online gives a new interivew and overview of the upcoming game. In it he discusses just how the Mythic team has learned from previous games and how RvR will be intergrated and accessable to the entire game. Definately worth the peek.

If I ever get an opportunity to meet the developers. I'm going to wear my Dwarf beards on my belt to show them how many stunties I've smashed.

(Don't ask where I got them.)

Great interview btw, I can't wait for the others.

Wow, that was nice. Some awesome information, like the sounds of how their career system progresses.

Also like hearing the 'other bits of insignia that orcs have cobbled together'. This could be a wide variety of misc. things...looted scrap armour, purely for decoration, tiny shields, wagon wheels, Teef, Orcy art maybe even.

Nice find. :D

More information is always good.

Especially liked the information concerning taking cities. Something along the lines of 'you'll be able to take the cities through a number of scenarios connected to that city'. Sounds like stages rather than a flowing taking of the cities? Then again might just be refering to different things that you can do to make the siege easier, like trying to get in an open the gates or something along them lines.

Scenarios are from what we know so far 16vs16 instanced pvp zones. Now, I belive that its really easy to mix up terms here and would be really surprised if the only chance to actually break a sige and sack a capital would be scenarios. And, this is comming from a PvPinstance loving fellow.:skull:

I hate to say it. Just take it all with a grain of salt, even tho its the offical word. Mythic seem to be unable to unify the vocabulay this early in the development.

Everything is taken with a grain of salt and a pinch of pepper for added effect. Mythic can't be trusted. I think it no mere coincidence there is a Tzeentch Lord in charge of the Chaos forces spilling out of the Northern Wastes. I think Mythic has been infested with its own secret coven of worshippers of the Changer of Ways. Certainly a lot of evidence point towards this!

Exactly, that would really suck if taking a city would be done only through scenarios!

It really creates a sense of artificiality, and out of context, if one are teleported to an instance in order to take a main city!

I'm betting that you have to complete a whole bunch of instances to "unlock" the capitol. So everyone can feel they contributed, by at least doing one part of a big fight. And it could also be there to stop zerging.

Bring on E3 for the real shots. Should be best E3 ever.

Good interview by the way.

Man, the more I hear about this game the more I get stoked about playing it. I really hope they balance it so that the hardcore players ( 8-10 hours a day ) don't run through the game and get everything captured before some of the moderate to casual game players ( 1- 4 hours a day ) get a chance to experience it. Other than that, this game sounds great!:D :D :D :D

This whole displaying trophies on our characters idea bothers me. I like the concept.....

I just wonder how many sets of clothing and armour for each class and for each race and for each gender where this can be modeled. Given each race will look unique and many races will have male and female options I do wonder if they arn't stretching the imagination a little too far.

With unique bodies, many many races and the desire to have visual changes to the armour as you get more kills how on earth can you keep a big variety of armour and equipment per race, per class and per gender per number of kills?

I can see a limited variety of armour at launch to compensate for the ammount of time spent on each race and gender while adding kill trophies updates aswell. Even if they make every "trophy" on your armour account for 10-50 kills they still have to do this for every race and every gender and every class.

On top of that they have a very tight deadline for a MMOG 2 years thats a pretty amazing task considering most single player games take 2-4 years and MMOG's usualy take 3-5years in development.

7 races, at least 11 gender models possibly 24 classes maybe with half the classes sharing the same armour i.e. 2 heavy 2 light armour and if they don't share then they need even more equipment, thats a heck of a lot of unique model equipment regardless.

cool concept but at what cost

As for the trophies on Orcs they most likely will use generic objects ( skulls and beards ). The beards can use different palettes with one actual model to simulate more than one beard and the skull is just one skull scale to look like different races possibly. The rest is standard fair for MMO's. DAoC, Everquest and WOW all have hundreds, if not thousands of unique armor combinations. Like the beards, a good part of the time developers use the same model for a given piece of armor and swap out the texture to change its appearance, VIOLA!! a new piece of armor. Its all very efficient :)

even in daoc there were (basically) 3 kind of armor x type x realm (eg: 3 kind of cloth armor for midgard, etc). This before toa that decuplicated this number.

About 2 years for developing a MMO, mythic will use a lot of things from Daoc (eg: catacombs-evoluted engine and rvr kind of pvp). Mythic is also famous for celerity on development.

Is the interview transcribed anywhere, for those of us with dial-up who can't watch the video? (Yes, I plan on getting broadband by the time I get WAR)

Got new info on the class system there how if you go ironbreaker you will be a tank , etc. Not free flowing skill system, but allows customization via the elective skills.
I find this to be good news i like Class Roles, but its also fun to be different (if not just somewhat) then other toons of the same class.

I wouldn't think addign skulls beards would take too much effort (some for sure) just becuase it would be like adding extra peices of armor anyway.

As for scenarios , i bet it will do things like bring in segie equipment (ie winner gets it, or gets point for it etc.) I think it will assist in taking the capital.

Also, Chuck Bronsun, i do not see thsi happening at all for the reason that if one side has hardcore players the other side will as well, thus they fight each other protecting each others land. In addition Mythic is trying to come up with a system to restart the zone (if not the servers) a bit after a captial city capture to start the war over from the begaining (don't ask me if they still plan to, but it was stated, and i am thinkign they are going to try to just start over the two sides that won like dwarfs and orcs campign areas).
Also, Chuck even if the orcs are liek 1 zone for capping the city , and new players (casual) show up then they can assist in pushing the orcs back or if orc helping the orc advance. I don't see this limiting casual players at all (in fact it will not, that is what i am saying).

Wow. I'm really looking forward to playing the game. Since the get-go I've been excited, but recent developments have made me even more impatient (the trailer [orc versus slayer, so cool!] and the interview). It looks as if this game is going to be amazing in terms of over-all game play.

Oh and to Garthink. I do respect your excellent admin-ing (is that a verb?) your way off base about getting dwarf beards buddy! The best any living being can hope to obtain is some dandruff flakes that may happen to fall from a dwarf’s beard in mid battle. As you can clearly see in the trailer the slayer is beating the crap outta the orc boss. :p (some gentle ribbing, not meant to offend, just amuse)
