Okay, the original images we were shown when they annouced Sorcs officially wasn't too bad. I wasn't a huge fan, but it was okay. However, this newsletter brings more concept art, and I really gotta wonder what Mythic was thinking.
These aren't bad in my opinion. Not great, but not bad.

These just look aweful in my opinion. Sorry Mythic and espicially the concept artists who drew these and their superiors who approved them but... I hope the Sorc gets a major revamp look wise.

But this one, this one is absolutely aweful. I dunno what is going on over in EA Mythic headquarters, but in my opinion clearly Chaos has corrupted the artist's minds, and not in a good way.

Am I alone in these thoughts? Am I judging Mythic too harshly? I believe I really am a WAR fanboy, but... some of the Dark Elf stuff is pushing it...

I like the new pics personally, the helm reminds me a lot of the pieces of samurai armor I have seen. The robes are all good, dark elves realy really love their spikes it seems.
Wouldnt mind seeing pants options for characters though, and some concept art if they are implementing pants as a option over the robes. No reason to deny mages the option to wear pants when they want, as it only serves to add to diversity.

I disagree Gemini. I really like the art. It feels right to me. The helmet is a little much and If I had the option i'd turn it off, but the overall look appears great to me. The only thing that is a little odd is the yellow, but that might change with armor dye.

They can't have all that armor, it works on the Chaos Magus but not on these guys. Their lower tiers with just robes look cool so I think if they just get these huge black robes that come over their face or something and just obscure them in black and blue itll work.
The female obviously will be just the opposite losing armor in the higher tiers.

Has anyone else noticed as the Sorceress goes up, she gets cuts on her body? Seriously, by the time she reaches tier 4 it's like she's taken a hawksaw to her sides. There is a three letter word I'm thinking of that describes this.....

I enjoy reading your opinions in which you have provided no evidence as to why the images are "absolutely aweful". So why don't you enlighten us as to what it is about the images you don't like, or perhaps some better concept art yourself.

I wasn't aware opinions required evidence, sorry. But I think I understand what your saying, so let me try to explain better why I don't like it.
I guess the worst part in my eyes is the overly large helmets, espicially in picture 6 where the length of his helmet is almost that of his torso and very clearly made of metal. Maybe if it was on a heavily armored melee fighter like the Blackguard it wouldn't be so bad, but on a caster it just looks really unpractical and odd, for lack of a better word. Mythic said they wanted their casters to look like casters, and have until now done quite well with that in my eyes. Casters can have metal helmets, even kinda big ones, and still look good and like casters, see the Magus. But I think they went overboard on the Sorcorer. If they took magus helmets but made them less chaosy and more Dark Elfy, then the Socrcs would look much better, imo.
The robes look great, I shoulda mentioned that, I like the robes. The shoulder-guards are okay, maybe toned down a bit, but not too bad. Really I'd like them a lot more if the shoulder pads and espicially the helmets were more the size of the female concept art.

just to make sure i understand you right so we can have a healthy dicussion. are you saying that you dont like the armours because its too much designs, which make them look more like chaos magus than dark elves sorcerers? and what would you suggest to be the changes?
i'm not trying to mock you or being sarcastic, i just dont want to post a response that has nothing relevant to your original post? ;)

i understood you better now;), but i'm still not clear what you mean by "less chaosy and more dark elfy?" do you mean that the design of the current sorcerer's helmet look "dark elfy" but its just way too much detail and too big? or you meant that the sorcerer's helmet looks too "chaosy" but not "dark elfy?"

I think they look pretty awsome! The only thing I would change like stated before is the coconut helmets. Either then that, I am now considering rolling one of these bada$$es
Opinions certainly do not require evidence - although it is nice and clear now as to why you don't like them.

I like the artwork, except for the helmets - but I think we can disable those ingame.
My only objection is the way females tend to always be half naked when their male counterparts aren't.

the dress design gives me an illusion that his feet are too short, but i'll wait till i see the animation being done on the sorcerer to judge more about this.
as for the helmet, i'll have to agree that its kinda big, but aren't dark elves sorceress' helm big too in the current GW miniature?: (look at one on the left)

I agree. And if you look at some pictures of Malkith, he himself wears very similar headwear.
I think they look awesome.

:( I read somewhere that you were not gonna be able to disable helms/cloaks. I may be tempted to take the stat hit and wear a lower tier helmet instead of those huge ugly things in later tiers.

hehe...
The Male Sorc's upper-tier armor does look god awful, though. Not because it's bad (artistically it is pretty good) but because it has way, way too much gold on it for how much black there is. Gold is a highlight color with black, not vice versa, and as such makes the items that have progressively less black as the main color for them look worse and worse.
If they toned back the gold a lot so it was more of a highlight than the dominant feature, I bet they wouldn't be as horrible.
Just for comparison. http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/media/images/careers/socc_11.jpg
versus
http://mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/media/images/careers/socc_06.jpg
If you notice, the gold is just way too thick and heavy on the male version, but the female version has it toned back just enough to make it look great.

because theyre different tier. that female version is more relevant to this male version:

so i'm guessing that they also have that much gold on the female as the male, but they just dont show us the concept art for that.

Camelot was very good about allowing you to recolor armor and such. I'm hoping they'll end up implementing something similar here so that if you really hate how some bit of armor looks, you can simply dye it flat black on everything but the most visible highlights.
Ok, I lie, I actually hope this is implemented so that I can color my robes yellow and blue and my hat bright pink, so that my enemies can see their doom approaching on the far horizon.

Well, they did say there would be a sort of dye/tinting system happening. Also, with a hat that big, people will see you coming from far away, trust me.

There is a lot of gold in the T4 of many of the Druchii careers. I don't like it much, either.
I think I actually prefer the low-mid tier armors for almost all of them.
Male Sorc included (female sorc looks phenominal).
Can't wait to see what they look like in game, though.

The women look 100 times better then the males imo. The males look ... Un-special.
However, the crown on the high tier is god awful on both genders, and I hope they fix that OR make it possible to hide those .. things. :(

The artworks of the Male version are not finished enough, because they're more recent.
(Paul said that in a video. The graphic designers did in first the artworks of the Sorceress.)
But imo I like the Male, because he look plane, dark and powerfull (for the 3 first tier)... I like it.

I absolutely love the basic first tiers, and the higher ones aren't too bad, I just think the helmets are a little... obnoxious. I don't want them to be gone just... maybe scaled down a little? I mean, I know we're trying to stick to lore here, but... those look like they'd break your neck if you turned it too fast.
Also, the fact that the helmet isn't facing the front of the Male Sorc's head in a couple of the pictures makes it look worse. (If you notice, the helmet looks a tad like it's been turned to the right.)

its understandable, because the sorcerer model was drawn seperately from the armour sets. then they placed which kinda armour they wanted on the model, which saved alot of time comparing to having to redraw everything for each version.

I actually really like them on the whole. The Male Sorc could perhaps use a bit more of a polish (although I do like the final tiered version).

I think both the male and female look great when you put your hand on the monitor and cover the helmets.
I'm not going to bother to find a link but I remember Paul talking about the show helm on and off feature being in the game when he was doing a podcast with a chaos class...I think marauder.

Thats correct...However, some time after this Josh (I think it was him? Correct me if I'm wrong please) mentioned that this would not be the case. That was a while ago, perhaps things have changed again. I would hope for a show helm on/off feature, and I would assume it would be implemented (whether at release or not).

With a bit of tweaking it is possible to change the look of the Sorc a bit. Perhaps with armor dyes and tinting close to the same could be achieved.

If the armor dyes let us change the Trims or primary colors, we won't have to "tolerate" armor colors we don't like.

Yea im not much of a gold fan either, not on a "dark" race anyway. Seems more appropriate on a High Elf.

That is better looking, though iirc gold was used specifically to bring out the elite status of a unit/character.
Personally I'm hoping for a "Turn off Helm" option, but if there isn't one, I'll live with the headdress. It isn't -that- bad, and fits with the lore.

I think both the shoulderpads and the headress are incredibly overdone, but I don't mind any of them otherwise. Hopefully color schemes will be alterable with dye, but hey who are we kidding, everyone is going to dye all their black anyway.

To me, the reason that the Female looks so much better than the male is the facial expression. The Female's expression is very unique - very confident and remarkable - something you would be able to remember. The Male's is very bland - it doesn't exude any feeling of power or presence. It makes a big difference if the face doesn't fit the armor. Personally I feel the Males should have a slight smirk or a daunting grin... or even a menacing scowl. Something to push the power and confidence that such a character would have.
e.g. Just look at the difference between the faces...

aside from the purply-blue, it looks pretty well done.
Only thing that I think could make it better would be to bring the silver out and make it more brilliant than dull. And something related to that weird purply-blue color...
