View Full Version : Skin Pigmentation

If you take a look at the Disciple's progression, you'll notice that at higher ranks the D's skin turns from pale white to a reddish color.

This could be a reflection of one of the avatar morphs over rank (such as Orcs getting bigger) that is specific for the Disciple.

I personally don't like it too much, but it might grow on me. It just makes them feel even less Dark Elfy than they do already. What do you guys think?

Obviously they've drank so much blood that it's starting to turn their skin color into red.

That or they've just eaten to many tomatoes.

...

Vampires like tomatoes, right?

Great. Now Druchii are vampires.

Elves are very pale. One can assume that with all this invasion of Ulthuan thing going on, these poor, light skinned warriors got sunburned.

[On a more serious note, I agree that it makes the disciple... very un-Druchii like.]

Enough with the "Bloodpuke" stuff. You do not need to constantly remind people of your dislike for the class.

The name is Disciple. Call it that.

The nickname was tolerated when the name had not been confirmed. It has been confirmed.

There is nothing in the rules that states I cannot refer to classes or races by nicknames. And, for your information, odds are I will end up playing a Blood Priest. It suits my play style. This isn't some attempt to grief the BP boys or express how much I dislike the class.

I really didnt notice it until you mentioned it. I looked at the art again and you indeed appear to be correct!

I guess just like eating too many carrots can turn your skin orange, offering up too much blood can turn your skin red ............you are what you EAT!...or......offer...whatever :p

(I sure hope they dont drink blood though :-?)

Because its always a good idea to argue with the mods. When you probably haven't read ToS/EULA for the forums

I don't see what the problem is with the skin pigmentation. I really don't see why everyone is getting all worked up over the class.

Well the last tier picture isn't anymore red than the 3rd so I guess the blushing goes down after you are a master of being a...disciple.

Karas

blushing ... LOL

it might be an optional thing ... at character creation you can create a pale white to blood red charater

Thank you Mongoose for being on topic. You rock (as always).

This isn't me stirring up stuff for fun. It's one of the two things about the look of this career that I'm not fond of. The other is the high-collars. However, it does reflect some insight into the nature of the visual progression over rank that Mythic has been talking about.

Or, the concept artist just needed a darker tone to work with the armor. Which is a bit weird; Druchii have pale skin.

Denial is not a river in Egypt. The Nile perhaps ... but not denial.

:P
whats wrong with a bit of blood here and there. when you cut yourself you lick it off don't ya? (assuming you've cut yourself in a lickable place)
these guys seem to cut themselves alot .... and with all those spiky armor things ... it would make sense.

Methinks those cups of blood are like mini-cauldrons.

Also, I kinda like the skin, so shoot me.

Nothing wrong with them drinking blood, or eating hearts for that matter, just so long as they don't suck it from the neck. And also, yes I saw them little goblets, nice touch.

They look abit like Dark Eldar Humonculi to me, should have called the class torturer or something like that. Or even surgeon, since them crazy Druchii probarbly learn about vital blood vessels by splitting them open.

Druchii are not vampires with an insatiable lust for blood, nor are they cats who have time to "lick" themselves (as you have put it) in the heat of battle.

Yet again this is the Disciple. The way things are shaping up it can probably fly too.

I don't think this is a clear "This is how they progress" but if it is it's from annointing themselves in blood, rather then chugging it like an Anne Rice wannabe, those goblets seem to be portable cauldrons, which are used to bathe with blood rather then drink it.

I imagine if I sprinkled blood on my flesh before every fight I'd stain abit too!

This would be the right angle. I just could not imagine the Druchii drinking blood.

Well not a Highborn, far too sophisticated. But I was under the impression that Witch elves eat raw meat on death night? Human hearts if I remember rightly. I wouldn't be suprised if Khainites drank it instead of coco after a hard day.

Witch Elves do that stuff in primal fury, they're like wild animals in that state.

The Priests are above that, we just drain them, not eat them.

Since they are disciples of the Blood God, Khaine, who has been depicted as having skin of meteoric iron and blood of molten fire, I think some of his magical gifts rubs off on the Disciples as they progress into their worship and his favor; most prominently are the eyes that turn the color of molten brass. It would make sense for their skin pigmentation to darken, deepen, or take on a reddish hue.

You certainly can't say it's as outlandish as the gifts of the Lord of Change. A third eye and tentacles ftw .

Yummy! I hope it's Motts! :-D

It is probably a "side-effect" from worshiping the blood god; the most worthy having the deepest red pigmitation, as opposed to the pale newbies.

It was a bit of sarcasm ... sux when it doesn't translate in written posts.
What I meant was ... those goblets seem spiky enough to stab and fill up with opponents blood and you (please don't flame) *drink* or spill or do whatever with it to boost your spells.

I'd like something like a double mechanic
while in combat harvest blood (hack and slash and this and that) use that to boost yourself and allies, after you kill an enemy you harvest their soul, that gives you a bigger boost and you can use that in some badass move.

Seeing how Druchii aren't vampires, I'd assume they the drinking of another persons blood would make them very prone to dangerous diseases? Sorry, drinking blood just isn't the right way to go with this. Other than that they may do what they like with the blood they collect.

Offtopic: Sorry I didn't pick up your sarcasm, you right, it can be hard to pick up on at times ;).

I'm getting the feeling that in a certain expansion people expect the vampires to make it in as a playable race so there seems to be a lot of aversion to blood and blood rituals.
Drinking blood isn't as uncommon or unnatural as contemporary culture makes it out to be.
Historically it was used as a medicine of sorts for blood disorders. (not sure how effective it was)

anyhow getting way off topic here. You are right ... drinking it may not be the best way to approach it ... you never know ... speculation makes the forums much more fun.

(oh sorry OP for hijacking) .... on topic ... BLOOD TAN! sexiest druchi tan ever
what you do: Kill some pansy fairies bathe in their blood, sit out in the sun for at least 2 hours on each side. And whoila!! you have a tan to make even the Witch Elf babes go crazy(er)

Hah, good luck finding a good sunbeam in the shadowlands that lasts for atleast 2 hours!

I don't really care about what color the Disciple's skin is. So long as it is not something completely crazy, like pink or a rich blue... If you had a really short, blue Dark Elf, you could pass him off for a smurf.

Paul in the podcast about Disciples says they "soul leech." Maybe the goblet is somehow a tool for that? Maybe it's not even a goblet, but like a portable soul vacuum. That would be pretty cool.

Oh, and to whoever said that it looks like their hair line goes back more as they progress through the tiers, yeah, look at the tier four guy. He's bald.

Have you ever thought that the hair line receding and the skin pigmentation are just different customization options not what happens when they progress?

Yes. But it could also still be progression :D Maybe when you get to a certain level, you go through a ritual in which you sacrifice your hair to Khaine.

The bottom line here is that EAMythic is still working out the kinks and getting everything straight. Remember how it took months of rumors and speculation for the developers to finally announce that Orcs grow in size and darken in skin color as they level up? Hopefully they come to an official decision with dark elves sooner than that, but we won't know until we know.
